"It's finally here! The yearly 'South Korea National Songwriting Contest' has officially begun today!" the MC announced with a cheerful smile.
The audience clapped loudly, and some people cheered and whistled in between. The MC smiled at the crowd, and continued reading his script.
"Today, aspiring songwriters are gathered here today to perform their self-written songs! This year had the most applicants that this contest has seen in twenty years. All ages and genders are here today to perform their songs!"
Another round of applause followed.
"Without further ado, so I don't waste your time either, I will announce the first people in the lineup, which happens to be a duo! Choi Soobin, and Choi Yeonjun, please come onto stage!"
The crowd cheered as two black haired men walked onto stage, both dressed in black, blue and white, the shorter of the two carrying a guitar.
They both wore similar rehearsed smiles on their faces, waving professionally at everyone before taking a seat on the provided chairs.
"Mr Choi and Mr Choi, what song will you perform for us today?" the MC questioned.
"It's a song we both wrote a while back. It was Soobin's idea to craft it, and my idea to apply here," Yeonjun explained.
"Interesting. You two seem to work like a team."
Soobin smiled curtly.
"Kind of."
"Say, what is this song called? And what was the inspiration behind it?"
Yeonjun and Soobin glanced at each other, sharing the same expression: blank, yet uneasy at the same time.
However, they kept themselves together and faced the MC again.
"This song is called favorite crime. And the inspiration... I'd prefer to keep it secret, but the song talks about a verbally abusive relationship," Yeonjun replied.
Our verbally abusive relationship, if I may say.
"I'm very intrigued. Anyway, without further ado, ladies, gentlemen and others, here is favorite crime performed by Choi Soobin and Choi Yeonjun!"

Yeonjun took his guitar to hand and started strumming the instrument slowly, creating a steady buildup.
Meanwhile, Soobin gripped his mic tightly, inhaling sharply, before raising the mic to his lips.
Both of them were wearing the same regretful expression.

Yeonjun met Soobin when they were young and dumb in high school. It wasn't long before they fell in love, having found each other during a time where both of them needed a shoulder to lie and cry on.
