(Bridger's POV)
The wind whipped around us as rain poured down, drenching us.
"We have to do it now!" Her silvery voice cut through the shrieking of the wind. I nodded. She raised her arms and began chanting. Immediately, runes appeared around us. I raised the staff above her red hair. It locked in place midair. I held firmly to the rod, feeling the Void tear at my soul. I grit my teeth and began muttering the incantation.
"Ascendit ut dea mea." I choked out, the pain too intense to bear.
'I can't do it.' I thought. Moments before I released the bar, I felt someone grasp the other end of the bar. Once they did, the pain lessened greatly. I glanced over but saw no one there. I heard a voice in my mind.
"Don't give up, the Realm needs her, she will help keep balance." The voice echoed through my mind.
I focused and continued the ritual. The magical energies surrounded us, separating us from the world as the Ascension continued. I felt someone enter our bubble of existence, someone dark. Immediately following the entrance of the dark presence, I felt a flash of fear. However, it was from the other presence. I felt it leave quickly. I looked around for the dark presence and saw no one, then I heard her scream. I looked over at her and my eyes bulged as I saw a blade running through her. She looked at me, her eyes filled with terror. Then, she dissolved.
The ritual ended, the runes faded, and I stared furiously at Dianite, the murderer of my almost-goddess. I drew two swords from off my back and charged, roaring a battle cry. Dianite grinned and lifted his blade to meet mine. Our blades collided, clashed, slammed against each other as fast as lightning. We dueled for several minutes, I hit Dianite several times. Once in the arm, thigh, shoulder. Dianite's face turned from one of delight to curiosity. He swung his blade upwards, smacking one of mine from my grasp. I lifted my sword to hit Dianite, but he disarmed me quickly. I fell to my knees, Dianite's blade at my neck. He grinned victoriously. I slammed the palm of my hand into the flat of his blade, jumping backwards to avoid his sloppy counterattack. I drew two small daggers that were strapped to my thighs. With a growl of fury I flew at Dianite again. He swung down, I sidestepped and slashed his right arm. He thrust, I deflected and punched him in the nose. He roared in pain and smashed his blade into one of my daggers. It spun into the underbrush. I backflipped away from Dianite and raised my dagger defensively. Dianite smiled and said, "Game over, assassin." I realized too late that there was someone behind me. I attempted to turn around, but a heavy object smashed into the back of my head and I fell to the ground. Everything faded to black.....
Several months later.....
"My lord, your agent's reconditioning is complete." An Acolyte said, running into Dianite's throne room.
"Excellent, let me see him." Dianite announced. The doors at the end of the hall slammed open and a man wearing a black cloak strolled in. His hood covered most of his face. He had two blood red blades hanging on his back in two sheaths. He approached Dianite and kneeled.
"Ready for duty, Lord Dianite." He said.
"Excellent! Welcome, Bridger." Dianite exclaimed. "Your mission is to track down these two." Dianite said, raising an orb that showed two teenagers. One was wearing a purple robe with a yin-yang stitched onto the back. He had short brown hair, purple eyes, and wore black clothes under the robes. The other was wearing a suit. He also had brown hair, however, the left side of his face was covered in a skull. The eye under the skull was yellow, but his other eye was hazel.
"This is Case, Priest of Ianite." Dianite pointed to the purple-clad figure. "His friend is Braxton, he is a demigod. Your mission is to convince them to join my army."
"And if they don't?" Bridger asked. Dianite smiled.
"Kill them."
Bridger bowed and left the throne room, heading towards the portal. He stepped into the portal room and stood next to the portal. He crouched, then leapt through the portal.....
Bridger awoke in a clearing in the forest. He tried to remember... Anything. Suddenly, he realized he couldn't remember anything. Who was he?
'Bridger,' a feminine voice echoed through his mind. 'Your name is Bridger. You have a lot to remember.....'
