One person was unhappy with the god's decision to separate the Void from the realms. An ancient warlock, and aspiring goddess, Thalia Ventris, was fascinated with the Void and desired it to be her realm when she Ascended. She openly opposed the gods, and using the loyalty of the creatures that served her, she began her war against the gods.....
-Excerpt from the fourth chapter of 'The Origins'
(Sylvia's POV)
Something was happening. Kate's thoughts had turned from contented to protective and then terrified.'Who was she?' Kate's voice echoed throughout the space.
"What's happening? Who is who?" I asked.
'You need to help us survive.' She demanded.
"Tell me what's going on!" I yelled into the abyss. Suddenly, colors blurred to life and I began to see a memory. A strange woman appears on Mianite's throne and threatened Kate, she fled through the halls of Mianite's fortress and out the gate. The images faded and the omnipresent voice spoke again.
'I... I need your help. I'm going to try and find Captain Manic, he'll help us, but we need somewhere safe to hide.....'
"Let me guess, you want me to ask my mom for help." I could feel Kate become uncomfortable.
'Yeah...'
"No way. You stole my body, and serve Mianite. How can I even trust you?" Kate seemed apprehensive, as if making a tough decision.
"I'll prove it." She resolved.
Suddenly, I was standing in a copse of trees. For the first time in a long time, I could feel the breeze on my skin. The blazing sun glowed orange as it began it's descent below the horizon."I'm... I'm back." I sucked in a deep breath.
'See? I wanna live too.' Kate replied from in my mind. 'If you survive, I do too.' She continued.
"Fine. Where are we going?" I asked.....
We arrived at a small shipyard nearly an hour later. As I walked, I'd learned how to allow Kate to see what I saw, by casually focusing on what I saw."This is the place." Kate announced. The docks held one ship. It was made of a light brown wood, and was about 20 feet long and 10 feet wide. It had a single mast sail that stood nearly 15 feet tall. As I walked down the dirt path toward the docks, two men stumbled out of the ship's cabin, roaring with laughter.
"YARRRHARRRRHARRRR!" One of them bellowed, clutching his sides. The other figure turned as he heard me approaching.
"Who be that?" He challenged. The first pirate turned and smiled.
"Ahoy! Thar be madam Kate! Good to see ye again!" The pirate called.
"Hello, uh, Captain." The pirate, who I assumed was Captain Manic, looked confused.
'That was too nice...' Kate muttered in my head.
"Shut it." I ordered quietly.
'Better.' Kate said dryly. 'Just say you need to talk and explain everything.' Kate suggested.
"That's... Errr, mighty kind of ye." Manic responded.
"If you've got a moment, Captain, I have something to talk to about with you....."
"That be..... A unique tale." The grizzled pirate said after I explained everything. "Even if ye aren't a Mianitee, we should be casting off now, this malevolent being be a threat to us all. Skipper! Begin preparations to cast off!"
I sighed with relief once I realized he believed me."Of course he did." My mouth formed the words, even though I hadn't asked them to.
"Are you talking through my mouth?" I asked myself. I felt my lips curve into a grin and say,
