(Braxton's POV)

"C'mon, let's go." I heard Case call. I looked up at him. He looked.... Prouder. Now that Ianite had recognized him as her champion, I could understand why. I shook my head.

"Go on, I'm gonna stay here for awhile longer." I said. He looked sympathetic.

"Alright..." He said, walking away.

I laid back against the tree, rubbing my temples.

'I'm Ianite's son...' The thought was both exhilarating and terrifying. I closed my eyes and slipped into unconsciousness.....

When I opened my eyes, the sun was rising. I stood and stretched, yawning as I did so.

"Good morning." I heard a familiar voice greet. I turned towards it, only partially surprised when I saw Ianite leaning against the tree where I had slept. I knelt.

"M'lady." Ianite waved her hand.

"Come on Brax, that's no way to greet your mother, is it?" I stood awkwardly.

"What are you doing here M'la- Err, Mom?" I said, catching myself at the last second.

"I figured you'd want an explanation." Ianite shrugged. I nodded. "Where to begin?" Ianite began. "Your father's name is Athelard. He was the king of a kingdom in a realm called Yggdrasil. He first came to my attention when his people called upon my name during the trial of a magician who had summoned an evil creature. This disrupted the balance so I came to hunt it down and restore the balance. In the process, I became well acquainted with him, and we fell in love and got married. Soon after, we had twins." Ianite looked wistful as she continued. "Eventually, the creature found us, but I wasn't in the realm when it attacked. Somehow, it destroyed the gates to the castle and led a horde of monsters in an attack on the castle. After the keep fell, your father disappeared. I found you in the wreckage, barely alive. I don't know what happened to Sylvia, although I have my suspicions." She scowled.

She sighed, then continued. "The End is no place for a child, so I left you in the care of some villagers in that realm. Eventually, you ended up in the Nether, right after the previous monarch's... untimely demise. Due to some of Dianite's mischief, you can't remember your past. But, as you know, you rose quickly to the lordship of the realm. And the rest is history." She smiled.

Finally, my amnesia was beginning to make sense. This was how I had come to the Nether! I nodded my understanding.

"Thank you for telling me." I said. "But why didn't you tell me earlier?" I asked.

She frowned, "You weren't ready. Now that you know, Mianite will come for you. But you are strong, he will find difficulty in capturing you."

"Yeah he will." I grinned.

Ianite smiled.

"Goodbye child, I will be with you wherever you go." Ianite said, her form fading. I turned and started walking home, a grin for adventure coming upon me.....
