The Void was vastly larger than the other three realms, and the gods knew that whoever controlled it would be immensely powerful. In an attempt to balance the realm's power, the gods forced the Void out of all realms and created the Bedrock to keep it out. The Bedrock stands to this day, keeping the Void between realms out, and making realm-jumping a painful and arduous process.....

(? POV)

Many years earlier......

I floated through the Void, breathing in it's beauty. Inside, fury boiled like magma. Those meddlesome gods! They had sent me here. I wanted revenge. Revenge for my unfair exile. Revenge for my subjects, sealed in an alternate prison realm. Revenge for the separation from my son. As my mind was filled with anger, my body was filled with Void.

"Someday!" I vowed......

Present day......

Finally, after years of biding time and covertly joining Mianite's army, I was ready. It is time to exact my revenge, my justice! The orbs had been a way to increase my power, when Ianite, that wicked "protector" of balance was hit with my orb, her power became mine. I no longer required Mianite. I stepped out of my room and said to the nearest guard.

"You! Can you deliver a message to Mianite?" He nodded.

"Excellent. Tell him Thalia Ventris would like to speak to him." He rushed off. I grinned wickedly. Being a high rank in Mianite's army was quite luxurious. Another guard approached me, I knew this one was a devout Mianitee, I'd been watching all the soldiers for months. Shadows thickened and I willed the Void into my trusty scythe. The guard appeared alarmed.

"W-what! Are yo-" he was cut short as I sliced him in half. I caressed my weapon.

"Good job baby." I lifted the upper torso of the guard. "Nice try, but Mianite owes me. Right?" I made the corpse nod to me.

"Good." I said. As I walked away from the dead man I laughed happily. It felt GOOD to satiate my hunger for murder. Soon, Mianite would know the taste of my scythe.....

(Kate POV)

I stood at Mianite's right hand as a soldier burst into the throne room, claiming the head of the Anti-Balance project had sent him.

"She said, 'Tell him Thalia Ventris would like to speak to him.'" Mianite looked visibly paler.

"T-Thalia Ventris?" The guard nodded. Mianite cursed loudly in the tongue of the gods.

"Don't let her reach me!" He bellowed fearfully.
"Tsk tsk, that's no way to welcome an old friend, Mianite." A cold feminine voice accused. I spun around to see a black-clad figure lounging on Mianite's throne. She had tousled breast-length black hair and gaunt white skin. She was wearing a tattered black cloak. Under the cloak was a black blouse and a miniskirt. Her black knee-length combat boots kicked casually into the air. As I watched, her form shimmered and bounced around a couple feet in every direction, eventually landing on the throne again.
Mianite stumbled backward, trying to put distance between him and the woman. I stepped in front of him, drawing my sword.

"Kate! Don't!" Mianite shouted. Immediately after he had shouted that, the woman moved forward impossibly fast. I felt a cold blade pressed against my neck, her left arm wrapped around my waist, effectively keeping me trapped. Her face was inches from mine.

"This is PERSONAL. Do not interfere." She hissed, some spittle flying from her lips onto my face. She released me and I wiped the spit from my face.
I looked over to Mianite who nodded.

"Leave, Kate. You are the only hope for the empire." Mianite said.

"Oh, I'd start running. After I've finished here I'm sending a party out for your head. Shoo." The woman said. I ran away, trying to hide from this strange woman who was feared by a god......

(Mianite's POV)

Now I stood alone with a demon I'd hoped to never see again.

"You're here to kill me." I stated. She grinned.

"Of course, dear." She blinked toward me, stopping by my side.

"Thalia I-"

"SHUT UP!" She snapped. "If you're going to address me, you may as well be honest about what you call me." I tried again.

"Thalia ple-"

"STOP IT!" She screamed as she reached up and slapped me.

"Call me it! NOW! CALL ME YOUR HIDEOUS NICKNAME."

I failed to disguise my disgust as I said, "Anomaly." She smiled.

"Much better. That's what you gods call me, so that's what I became."
"You don't have to do this." I said.

"Y-aaaaaaa-wn. You're boring me. 'Thalia, please. Thalia, I'm sorry.'" She mocked, imitating me.

"I think I'll just kill you." She said. I reached behind my back and grasped the dagger I had hidden there. Before I had a chance to strike, a figure threw itself at the Anomaly. After a couple seconds of fighting, Jacob was thrown off of her. He landed a couple feet from her and she swiftly slashed him across the gut, mortally wounding him.

"Jacob, you should know better by now than to attack a deity." I chided.

"S-sorry, m'lord." Jacob sputtered out. With a sigh, I sent him a piece of my quintessence, healing him.

"Leave now, go to the others, I will no longer be needing their location." I said, opening a Rupture for Jacob to escape through.

"Cute friend, I think I'll kill him later." The Anomaly taunted.

"Jacob is one of my strongest warriors." I growled. Thalia cocked her head to the side.

"Then why is he hanging out with Dianite so much?"

"He is doing his part." I said angrily.

"Whatever, shall we continue?" She asked playfully. I nodded and, with a roar, I thrust the blade into The Anomaly. I was surprised as it passed straight through her, but didn't touch her. Her form became vaporous, then solidified with my hand on the other side of her chest. I tugged on my trapped arm, pulling The Anomaly along with me.

"Nice try." She grinned madly. "But I've got a couple new tricks up my sleeve." I watched in horror as her scythe reformed, and she swung it at me......
