(Case's POV)

We finished planning our heist and went to bed. A couple of days later, on the day before the heist, we had an unexpected visitor. I opened the door. Standing in the early morning light, was Jacob. Immediately, I drew my rapier and leveled it at his chest.
"Woah woah woah!" Jacob shouted, raising his hands defensively. "I came to give you this." He said, rummaging in his pocket. He pulled out his hand and opened it, palm facing me. In his hand was a small gold cross. I took it and immediately realized what I was holding.

"The Golden Cross." I whispered. "Why? Why give it to me?" I asked.

"May I come in?" He asked......
Several minutes later, Braxton, Jacob and I sat in our living room. After Braxton and Jacob had exchanged formalities, Jacob began.

"When we first entered this realm, I was angry, as most Mianite or Dianitees were. I searched for a destructive spell which would temporarily increase Dianite's power tenfold." He paused. "Then I realized, if Dianite rose destructively, it would inadvertently destroy our new realm and our new lives, and it would be my fault....."
Jacob sighed. "I..... Left Dianite." Immediately, our questions started flying through the room. Jacob raised his hand for silence. We stopped talking.

"I-I thought joining Mianite would help preserve the realm. For a time, it seemed it would. Then I heard the rumors. Mianite was going to use the children of Ianite to destroy the other gods. I did some searching and realized how he meant to do it."
Jacob looked directly at Braxton.

"I then betrayed Mianite and returned to Dianite, begging for his forgiveness. He allowed me to, explaining that he too had realized destroying the realm was an awful idea. What else could he rule once he defeated Mianite?" Jacob grinned.
"Dianite asked me to give you that, as a token of goodwill between our deities." Jacob explained, pointing to the golden cross.

"Mmhmmm." I hummed.

"Thank you, but how is Mianite going to use me, us, to kill immortal beings?" Braxton demanded. Jacob's face split into a sad grin.

"I can't tell you. You have to find your own way to stop it." Jacob said sadly. As Braxton started protesting, a red light enveloped Jacob and he disappeared......

(Kate's POV)

I stood with Manic in Mianite's throne room. The walls were made of marble and intricate pillars held the roof far above our heads. I knelt on the golden rug as Mianite entered the room.

"M'lord." I mumbled.

"You said you have news?" Mianite questioned.

"Aye," Manic began. "We found yer info. She will explain." Mianite looked at me expectantly. I opened my mouth, licking my dry lips.

"It's time, m'lord. It's time to capture the demigod......"
