Allie was sitting at her couch with Myla, watching a horror movie with the blinds closed. It took her mind off worrying about Sunday, and instead worrying about jump scares. Myla patted her head and laughed as Allie hugged her tight. "Al, it's not even that scary!" "Speak for yourself! Ghosts dragging people who are covered in blood away is scary to me!" Myla smiled and kept watching the movie, then paused it. "What's the holdup?" Al asked. "You should be glad, you were terrified." "I enjoy the thrill." "Okay, but do you enjoy being with Victoria? Have you asked her to hang out yet?!" Allie's eyes widened and she frowned, her cheeks turning a bit red. "Yes. We're meeting tomorrow. She's... picking me up." Myla gasped and shook Allie hard. "ALLIE! OH MY GOD ALLIE!! YOU'RE MEETING TOMORROW? SO SOON? AND SHE'S PICKING YOU UP? DOUBLE WIN!" Allie winced and groaned, "Alright, ugh! Just stop screaming in my ear!" Myla recollected herself and exclaimed, "Sorry but it's not every day your best friend gets a date!" Al's ears turned red. "It's not a date.", she mumbled. "Okay, whatever helps you sleep at night." Myla shrugged, smiling. Allie looked at the clock, which showed 6:49. She begged the clock to go much faster.

Myla wanted to have a sleepover but knew it would bother Allie, so she left at around 11pm. Allie already had her whole outfit set up for tomorrow and had decided she'd let her hair down. She was too eager and nervous for the day to come, and just jumped into her bed, curling up into her pillow. She texted Victoria, "See u tmr, gn", and Victoria left her on read. She couldn't sleep at all, and just stared at the ceiling. She tried to plan the day, but Victoria was too unpredictable so there was no point. She decided to text Victoria again, which took a great amount of courage. "R u up?" A few minutes later, Victoria had video called her. Out of shock and confusion, Allie accepted. "It's 12am, aren't you sleepy? Are you upset about something?" Victoria's voice sounded like she wasn't sleepy at all and hadn't even tried to sleep. Allie rubbed her eyes and opened it enough to make out Victoria. She had her short hair down and was wearing a tank top with shorts. "Oh.. no I'm not upset. About anything, at all." "Mhm."

Silence. Victoria was still on the video call, she could hear the clattering. "What are you doing?" Allie asked groggily. "Wouldn't you like to know?" Allie heard a 'tsk'. "You don't go to school, do you?" Allie paused, then said, "No, not like you do either. I go to work, but I don't go to school. Not anymore. I'm trying to, but I haven't gotten any response from some schools." "Ah. I... dropped out. Did what I could, then dropped out." More silence. "Do you mind if..." Allie tried to stop herself from saying it. "If?" Her mind and body told her to stop, but the urge to say it was bigger. "Do you mind if I come over?" The clattering stopped and there was even more silence. She hated the amount of silence.

"Right now is real late, but..." Allie heard Victoria clear her throat. "Yeah sure. Uhm, I'll come get you, I have your address anyways."
