I stared at the desktop screen with a frustrated pout. I tried scrolling down the short list, but it was to no veil. The constant notifications from my office email were not helping either. I leaned back into my seat and rubbed my temples.

"Why did I have to open my big mouth?" I scolded myself. I cringed as my words from the morning replayed in my head.

"Thank you for clarifying your actions. I will not burden you much longer. This same day I will make sure to find a place of my own."

I refreshed the page but the same three listing appeared. All of them either out of my budget or with minimal space. If only I had not caved in to my anger. I should have remembered I barely had enough money and my paycheck would not come in for another week. I sighed and closed the various apartment search websites I had opened.

I glanced over at the office beside me. Dante was immersed in some documents. He looked so concentrated. I could not help but wonder what he must have been through to have such a cold exterior. I thought back to Samantha's advice. Could I really help him? I shook my head before her words got to me. I could not help somebody that did not want help. I was grateful for Dante's helping hand, touched even, but like he said, he only did it out of empathy.

"Good morning Stephanie, I am here to drop off the ledgers Mr Villanueva asked for," Tony, the head of the accounting department greeted. He carried a large stack of papers in hand.

"Thank you Tony, I will see to it he gets them."

"I must say you look ravishing today," he complimented. His lips stretched out to show his pearly white teeth. The man surely was handsome but he was not my type.

"Thank you Tony," I said with a small smile. I expected him to leave but he remained their smiling at me. "I should probably start taking these to Mr Villanueva."

I picked up the stack of papers and stood up. I began making my way toward Dante's office but Tony stopped me.

"Steph, I was actually wondering if you'd like to go get lunch with me sometime. Or maybe even dinner?" Tony brushed his hand through his hair nervously. His hazel green eyes stared at me expectingly.

How do I let him down gently?

"Mr Kelvin, shouldn't you be working on the closing statements I ordered?" Dante emerged from his office. He wore disapproving scowl as he stared at Tony with his menacing blue eyes.

"Y-Yes sir. I was just asking Ms Astoria a question," Tony replied but this only caused Dante's scowl to deepen. Tony lowered his gaze from his. "I will go get started on those statements, sir. Bye Stephanie."

"Bye Tony," I gave him a small smile.

"Come here," Dante growled as he grabbed my hand and led me into his office. He closed the door behind us and pushed me against it.
