—————————————♥️—————————————STEPHANIE'S POV
"A woman may expect their v—Che diavolo (What the hell)!" I stared down at the image inside the book with a horrified expression.
I could hear two people laughing behind me. Caterina and Alessandra both clutched their stomachs as they continued to chuckle.
"That book does not do the actual birthing experience any justice," Alessandra said as she wiped away the tears that had escaped from how hard she was laughing.
"You're telling me it's going to be worse than this!" I asked in a panicked tone as I showed them the animated image of a fully dilated pregnant woman.
"Much worse." Caterina's face was serious.
I set the book down with shaky hands.
"Could you stop pestering my wife? She is already scared enough as it is," Dante said as he also stepped out into the garden.
"I rather she know in advance than sugar coat the beautiful experience of birthing a watermelon-sized human," Alessandra replied.
Dante noticed my horrified expression and walked over to me. He crouched down beside me and quickly caressed my face.
"It's not going to be that bad, my love." He assured.
I knew he was trying to comfort me, but my pregnancy hormones weren't having it.
"Shut up! You're a man. You've never had to push a baby out of your va-jay-jay!" I sulked as a few tears ran down my face.
Dante glared at his sisters. "See what you did."
"She started crying with you, not us." Caterina shrugged innocently.
"When either of you gets pregnant again, I will get you back for making my wife cry by showing you the Bambi movie." Dante warned.
"What makes you think we will be getting pregnant again?" Caterina sassed.
"You and Derek can barely keep your hands off each other, so it's only a matter of time."
Caterina opened her mouth to think of a comeback, but she did not have any. Instead she grabbed her shoe and threw it at Dante's back. The action caused a giggle to escape from my lips.
"Really, my Angel? You laugh at her throwing a shoe at me but cry when I try to comfort you?" Dante asked in disbelief.
I shrugged innocently. "It's the hormones."
"You're lucky I love you," Dante replied as he pushed back the strands of hair that had gotten stuck to my damp temples.
"I love you, too." I wiped away my tears before leaning down to the smoothie cup balancing on my baby bump.
"You're really using our child as your personal table?" Dante raised a brow in amusement and laid his hand on my stomach as I nodded.
"He gets to make me throw up each morning, I get to use him as a table," I replied.
It was as if our little boy was listening because as soon as the words left my mouth, I felt a sharp pinch inside my stomach.
Dante and I turned to each other with widened eyes.
"Did he just kick?" Dante asked and I nodded hesitantly.
"I-I think he did," I replied.
Another small pinch jerked me up from laid back position. Dante turned to me with a wide smile.
"He's kicking! My son's kicking!" Dante exclaimed as he ushered Caterina and Alessandra over.
We all laid our hands on my round belly as we waited for the baby to kick again. Instead of just one kick, he started to flutter around my stomach.
"He's like a little fish swimming around," Alessandra joked.
"Our little fishie." Dante and I grinned.
