My Angel: We made it to the gun range. Wish me luck! :))
Me: Let me know when you are done. I love you.
I stared down at my phone. It had been an hour and Stephanie had yet to respond. I could not help but wonder if she was okay. I knew my sister could be very intense when she wanted to.
"She's going to be fine. She's a big girl," Caterina assured as she turned her attention from her phone to me.
"What if Alessandra scares her away?" I mused with a worried expression.
Caterina gave me the 'are you serious' look. She heaved a sigh and placed her hand on my shoulder.
"Alessandra just wants to prepare Stephanie for the role she will take when she becomes your wife. She is not going to scare Stephanie away because she knows how much you love the girl. Believe it or not, she wants you too be happy too."
I nodded trying to accept Caterina's words. Everyone was right. I had to let go of my fears and the past. It would do me no good if I continued to listen to the negative thoughts.
"Plus, you have bigger issues to worry about." Caterina looked out the window as the car pulled up at the large estate.
The air felt cooler from how high up we were. You could see the village from here. I smiled as the few good memories from my childhood resurfaced.
Caterina and I stepped out the vehicle and walked toward the front door where two guards stood.
"Mr Villanueva, Ms Villanueva." Liam, the head guard greeted. "Mrs Santoro has been informed of your arrival. She should arrive shortly."
The deep breathing of a horse along with the deep hollow sound hooves clopping neared us. We turned around and found a horse approaching us fast. The horse stopped and kicked the air with its front legs as it neighed loudly. The female on top of the horse jumped off in one quick move.
"Era ora che venissi a trovare tua nonna (It's about time you came to see your grandmother)."
I smiled at the only motherly figure I had left.
"I apologize for not visiting sooner, but I have had a lot on my hands lately." I walked over to my grandmother and gave her a hug accompanied by a kiss on either cheek.
"I do not blame you. You had very big shoes to fill after the death of your father," my grandmother said with a sympathetic smile. "How has life been treating you my dear?"
I opened my mouth hesitantly. I did not want to appear as rude, but I also knew we did not have time to discuss personal matters. My grandmother seemed to catch on and simply smile.
