Lorenzo POV
"Lorenzo, I promise, we are ok. Nicolas is sleeping and honestly, I'm exhausted. I'm going to take a nap. I know your men are waiting to catch up on all the work you missed." Lindsay told me as she crawled into bed.
Truth be told, she did look tired, but I wasn't an idiot. I would never tell her that.
I pulled the blankets up over her shoulders and kissed her forehead. I glanced at Nicolas, who was napping in his crib. Maybe they would both sleep and I could get some answers about the night of the crash.
"Okay, Tesoro. There is a phone right here on the nightstand, just dial zero and it rings the kitchen to Maria. She will help you if I'm not available. I will probably be back before you or Nicolas are awake. Get some sleep, hmm."
"Thank you, Lorenzo." She replied.
Her head was on the pillow and her eyes were fluttering already. I gently walked out of the room and closed the door.
"Text me, if my wife leaves and follow her." I told Alex who was stationed outside our bedroom.
"Of course, boss." Alex nodded at me as I passed by.
I walked down the stairs and toward my office. I was anxious to talk with my men and get things back to normal. From being in Italy for three months then coming home and having the car crash, it had been a while since I had a meeting with my men.
I also needed answers from Tommy and Luca. Valentino had hired them when I was in Italy, and we haven't had much interaction. The night of the crash he put the lives of my wife and son in their hands. And they had obviously failed in bringing back the right woman.
I know that they had never personally met Isabella, but our photos were all over this mansion. I was their king, and she was their queen. They should know what she looks like.
I stopped by the kitchen before going to my office. I needed a bit of caffeine before I started drinking liquor, but I really knew I would find Maria here. She preferred to work in the kitchen so whenever I was looking for her, I always started here.
I entered the kitchen to find Maria in the beginning stages of starting dinner. She was giving orders to a few young women. Maria looked after the hiring and firing of the maids, cooks and helpers. I didn't care who she hired as long as they did their jobs.
I stood in the doorway as she finished giving out her orders. "Maria, please bring me a coffee in the dining room. I need to talk to you for a moment."
"Of course, Lorenzo. I'll be right there." She winked at me because she knew she was the only one who got away with calling me my name.
I went to the tidy dining room, sat at the head of the table and waited for Maria. It was only a few moments later that she entered with my coffee and a tea for herself. She set our drinks down and sat to my right.
