Lorenzo POV

When Valentino told me that Henry was at my casino opening, I thought that was worse case scenario, he had made an appearance but there was no way he would ever see Lindsay. But I couldn't be more wrong on both fronts.

When I finally found Lindsay, my night only got worse when I saw that piece of shit sitting beside her, holding her hands and sharing the same air as her. It worried me that I had no idea what he was telling her and it was killing me not to walk over there and blow a bullet through his brain. He was a monster and a manipulator who didn't deserve to be anywhere near her.

I thought I was in the clear and had my carefully crafted story covered but I felt my heart drop when Lindsay asked me if she had a baby girl before Nicolas. There was no handbook to tell you what to do when the woman some might say you kidnapped, (I preferred rescued,) asked something that you knew was the truth but it would in no uncertain terms fuck up every lie you told and to make matters worse, it would probably crush her.

I truly did hate this but I had no choice but to lie, lie, lie and deny, deny, deny.

I looked over to Lindsay and she looked so uncertain. "What are you talking about? What did he say?" I asked, trying to keep my voice level. "He must have you confused with someone else, maybe another friend of Tiffany's perhaps." I offered, hoping she would take the bait.

"He was surprised that I had a baby. Actually now that I think about it, Tiffany was also surprised. Did she not know about my pregnancy? About Nicolas?" Lindsay asked.

"I'm not sure what she told you, but if I'm being completely honest, you two had started to drift apart. It started after we got married, she was always wanting you to go out and party and drink with her. She would get quite upset when you told her no." I scrambled to explain. "And for the last year you two barely were in contact. I can confirm that you never told her about Nicolas. She made you feel so guilty about not going out. The damage was done and you too had just grown too far apart."

"Well that makes sense. She seemed happy but surprised to see me tonight. And she was quite surprised to find out about Nicolas." Lindsay said.

"What else did he say?" I gently prodded. I needed to know what I was up against.

"Well Henry knew about my car accident, but what he told me was a completely different story than what you told me. He told me I had a daughter but she died that night." She answered with a sniffle. "Why would someone, especially someone I just met, say something so awful? I couldn't imagine if I ever lost Nicolas, honestly I would be so heartbroken."

I pulled Lindsay onto my lap and wrapped my arms around her. "I know you would, Tesoro. And I promise you that will never happen." I ran my hands up and down her back, hoping it would calm her down. "And speaking of Nicolas, we are almost home. Who do you think he missed more, me or you?"
