Lorenzo POV
Granted I had only been a father for less then a month but I like to think I had this thing in the bag and it really wasn't that hard. So it was truly humbling that Nicolas decided that this would be the moment that he would knock me down a couple of pegs by screaming his head off. He started off with his cute little whimpers when he was half asleep and would let out little baby noises that could definitely be classified as adorable but as soon as he opened his eyes and he didn't see, hear or smell Lindsay he started to lose his mind. His loud wails soon overpowered the soft ambience of the restaurant. The only thing that was saving me from glares from the other patrons was that they all knew who I was and that I could ruin them if they so much looked at me or my family the wrong way.
I unbuckled Nicolas from his car seat and pulled him into my chest. He looked up at me and thankfully he started to calm down.
"It's ok, buddy. Daddy's got you." I told him as I kissed his forehead.
I have no idea if I spoke too loud or if my chest vibrated too much but when those words left my mouth Nicolas started screaming again. Fuck.
Of course Lindsay was still in the bathroom. She was really the only person who could calm him down. Of course it helped that she had the right equipment.
"Shhh," I told Nicolas, trying to sooth him the best I could as I patted his little bottom. I suddenly spied the diaper bag in the basket under the stroller. Fuck, he probably has a dirty diaper. Well he's already losing his mind, might as well change him.
I walked over to the stroller, hooked the diaper bag with my free arm and walked to the restroom. Nicolas just couldn't give me a break and decided to cry on the short walk. Throw me a bone, little buddy!
Thankfully the restroom was empty. I didn't want to change my very first diaper with a crying baby and an audience. Fuck, I just realized I have no idea what the fuck I was doing.
I looked around the sitting room. Thank fuck these restaurants are so extra and have these spaces. I needed a soft surface to lay Nicolas down so I plopped down on a couch that would work for him to be changed on.
