Lorenzo POV

The whole drive to the casino, I sat beside Lindsay and held her hand. It seemed like my thumb was on auto-pilot because it was stroking the back of her hand. It proved to be calming for both of us. At one point she had even laid her head on my shoulder.

I was checking my phone when I felt Lindsay go rigid beside me

I was checking my phone when I felt Lindsay go rigid beside me. I looked up to see we were drawing near the casino and the reports I had gotten earlier from Valentino were definitely true. The crowd of patrons wanting to enter seemed to be growing in size and there was paparazzi along the street and at the entrance. My security was stationed all around the building. No one was getting in without being on an invite only list and no one besides my inner circle would be using the back entrance.

I pulled up her hand and kissed it. "It's okay, Tesoro. I won't let go of your hand. I know this is overwhelming for you but there are no reporters or cameras inside. At this hour, even the main floor has very limited guests."

Lindsay let out a breath. "Thank you." She whispered. "You always know how to make me feel better. And you're right, this is very overwhelming. How are you not nervous right now? I mean I can kinda stay in the shadows but you, this is your big night."

"Years of practice, Tesoro. I'm betting that by the time I have to say my speech, the reporters will be gone and most of the crowd will be too drunk to care what I'm saying."

My father taught me that little trick. Waiting until everyone is relaxed and having a good time ensured that they really weren't paying attention to what I was saying. Strong alcohol also helped.

"Speech!" Lindsay practically squealed. "You have to give a speech? How are you so calm right now? I would be so nervous I'd probably pass out from stress."

My mind went to the episode that Lindsay had in the elevator when she was holding Nicolas. If it wasn't for Alex's quick thinking, who knows what would have happened. I pull my mind from those awful thoughts and focus on the here and now.

"Don't think about it, Tesoro. No need to worry yourself about it. I do this all the time. I hardly give these things a second thought anymore." I told her honestly. "Now, are you ready to go in?"
