Lindsay POV

The week had flown by and today was already Wednesday. It had been a rather quiet couple of days with Lorenzo staying true to his word, giving most of the staff the week off, with pay of course. The slew of maids and hired help that met me on the steps when I came home from the hospital weren't here. There was only Maria and Alex and quite honestly I felt much freer and not so suffocated with the absence of all the extra people.

I felt more comfortable exploring the house and getting into a routine in a quieter house. Every morning I would nurse Nicolas in bed, change his diaper, then I would find Alex waiting outside my bedroom and he would escort us to the kitchen for breakfast. Lorenzo had promised that Alex would be my shadow and he was but not in an overbearing way, he was more like a big brother.

Maria would have breakfast ready and the three of us would eat together at the round kitchen table that overlooked the backyard. I hated putting Nicolas down so the three of us would take turns holding him. This was always informal. Maria would set everything out, family style and we would help ourselves to whatever we wanted. It was a light and easy going way to start the day. After that I would put Nicolas in a baby wrap and take him for a walk in the massive yard. We had lunch in the same manner then Nicolas and I would return to our bedroom, I would nurse him and we would both have a nap. He was starting to go longer in between his feedings which made it easier to get onto a schedule.

Since this had been our morning routine for the last couple of days, I was surprised when Alex, with his arm hooked in mine, walked me past the kitchen and into the formal dining room.

He felt me stiffen up, obviously wondering what was going on. "Mr. Santos is home today. He's waiting for you and breakfast will be served in the dining room this morning." Alex explained.

I feel a smile spread over my face. Oh, Lorenzo must have wanted to surprise me and that's why he didn't tell me he was home today. What a sweet husband I have.

Alex opened the french doors that led to the dining room. Lorenzo, had been sitting at the rectangle table but stood and walked over to us. He pulled me in for a hug. Instead of wearing one of his custom black suits, he was dressed more casually in jeans and a t-shirt.
