As my last class before lunch finished I headed to my locker with Annie. "Wait up!" I heard. "You guys can't leave me behind!" I turned around smiling to come face to face with another friend of mine, Sarah. "I was wondering when you would show up!!" I said brightly. Sarah was a hyper brunette who loved art and was the stereotypical nerd. She had the glasses, she had the brains, but she did not have the shyness. No sir, she was not shy at all. One day some kid was harassing her about her having big glasses... let's just say that his nose has never been the same since and leave it at that. together the three of us are best friends, unfortunately I have almost no classes with Sarah except for Art. I grabbed my lunch money and slammed my locker shut, wincing at the resonating bang that echoed throughout the hallway. Sarah and Annie started to chat quietly as we walked down the hall, my mind was off in the distance contemplating whether or not I wanted to go to Nicholas' party. "Helena. Helena. Helena!" I was snapped out of my thoughts by Annie yelling my name. "What?" I asked. "Did you tell Sarah about the party?" Sarah's eyes lit up as she said, "Party?!" I couldn't help but smile. " Yes Sarah, a party. Nicholas invited us and I was trying to decide if I wanted to go." Sarah stopped in her tracks and gave me her best WTF? expression. "What? Did I say something wrong?" She looked at me as though I made her want to throw up. "Helena, you do not simply decline an invitation to go to Nick's party. He throws the best parties in the world and he has a pool. A POOL!" Her face started turning red as she threw her hands up in the air. I started laughing and didn't notice that someone was right in front of. "Hey watch it!" Someone growled. I looked up and my smile was immediately erased as I came face to face with the school Queen Bee, Chloe. Her family was incredibly rich and she was a spoiled brat, if someone didn't have much money she would openly criticize them in front of the whole school. "Oh, hello freak." She said, a sneer already forming across her mouth. I looked her dead in the eyes and said in a flat tone, " I had no idea that my lack of plastic beneath my skin made me a freak. If that is the case, I would gladly be one though." Despite the normal stereotypes about the school Queen Bees dying their hair blonde and wearing skimpy outfits, Chloe remains her natural chestnut brown haired self. She also dresses relatively decently and lack excessive amounts of make-up. One thing that is well known about her though is her multiple plastic surgeries. She scoffed and responded with, " You're just jealous because I'm better than you in every way. Now, if you go to that party then I'll make your life a living hell." Annie and Sarah leaped to my aid, both wearing expressions of disgust. "Back off Chloe," Sarah told her. "Sarah's right, you can't boss us around and Helena is more real and better than you could ever be - inside and out." I smiled at the two girls who always stand by my side through thick and thin. As Chloe opened her mouth to reply Sarah cut her off again. "By the way, we are going to that party and there is nothing you can do to stop us." With that we pushed past her and continued on our way to the lunchroom.
"I can't believe the nerve of that girl!" Sarah was still really worked up about what had just happened with Chloe. She didn't really bother me any more, we have never gotten along and I have learned to just ignore her. "I know right? She can't just boss us around, she's not our mom." I sighed. "Yeah, she's not a good person but we can't let her get to us. Let's talk about something else." Sarah and Annie agreed and we spent the rest of lunch talking and laughing. When the bell rang I followed Sarah to Art. She started to get very giddy just like she always does when she is about to do art. I smiled. "Okay Sarah, calm down. Calm kitty." She laughed and skipped into the room. "Hi Mrs. Johnson!!" We said unanimously. She smiled, "Hello girls! How are you today, doing well?" "Yep! Today is a good day." I responded. "I'm glad to hear that. Okay class, lets get started!" She said and clapped her hands.
