A/N
Hello, I'm sorry for my delays in updating, I've been getting lots of homework and it's difficult finding time to write new chapters while still being able to relax or read. Guess what? I have set out on a quest to re-read the entire Harry Potter series and all of the Percy Jackson books. I was thinking about writing a Harry Potter fanfiction... after I finish re-reading those books I plan to read The Infernal Devices (The Mortal Instruments books are amazing!!!) and The Magnus Bane Chronicles. I will have so much reading to do! (>.<)
"Helena! Helllllllooooooo?" I am yanked out of my thoughts as Nicholas wags his hand in front of my face.
"What?!" Annoyed, I shove his hand down with my good hand and frowned when Nicholas chuckled.
"You zoned out there. Everything okay?" I got the idea he was referring to more than my being bullied by I ignored that.
"Yeah, I'm fine. You know, I didn't really need help. I can take care of myself." I try to shrug but my previous cut on my arm made it painful to do so. I think Nicholas noticed this.
"Yeah, sure Helena. I saw you in there, those girls did a number on you. I'm surprised you're even walking!" Nicholas looked upset at thinking about the events that happened today. Why does he even care so much?
"I'm fine!" I snapped. I felt a twinge of guilt in the bit of my stomach as pain Nicholas' face. Maybe I was being too hard on him...
"Seriously, I'm okay. Don't worry about me." I can hear my voice soften and I look down at the ground, ashamed that I had snapped at him. Nicholas was just trying to look out for me. He stood silent for a few seconds before responding.
"I know I shouldn't worry Helena, but I do. I worry all the time, you never think that your actions can hurt those around you." My face twisted into bewilderment at what we just said to me. Nicholas just sighed and continued. "Did you ever think about your friends and family when you jumped onto that man's back? Did you think about how devastated we would be if he had...had...killed you?!" Nicholas' calmness had been replaced by anger as he said this, pain flashed through his eyes while he thinks about me dying. I must say, I didn't expect this.
"Nicholas, listen to me." He lifted his head up. "You're right, I wasn't thinking. I didn't think about my friends or my family or anyone at all-I didn't think about anyone except for the boy and his mother that that man was going to kill. I know I was putting myself at risk but I didn't care, I couldn't let them die." I look desperately into Nicholas' eyes, hoping that he can understand what I'm trying to say. 1...2...3...4...5...
"Okay." He shoved his hands into his pockets and continued walking without saying another word.
***Ten Minutes Later***
I must say, walking without talking is very awkward, especially when that silence lasts for ten full minutes.
"...Nicholas?" I break the heavy silence and look expectantly at the solemn face in front of me.
"Yes, Helena?" His face is stony as he continues looking straight forward.
"Wh-where are we going?" As the two of us walked I felt a huge sense of deja vu overcome me, I crane my head to look at the houses we pass by. Where have I seen all of these before? The houses are normal enough, tall, white structures all bunched together. But each house has its own distinguishing marks. To my right, there is a beautiful blooming garden full of roses, violets, tulips, morning glory, and pretty much every other flower in existence. To my left, I see an intricately painted mailbox with a gorgeous recreation of The Starry Night. I know I've been here before but I just can't place it.
"You are really impatient, Helena." I turn my head to see a small smile creep its way on Nicholas' face.
"You're right, I am really impatient. Now tell me!" Nicholas broke out into a full grin as I whined to him. "PLEASE!" I pull out my major puppy dog eyes and stick out my lower lip in a desperate attempt to get an answer out of him.
Okay, I'm sorry about this horrible wait. To make up for it, I am publishing this. Since I am on Spring Break I had planned to update, unfortunately I am taking a trip so updating will be slow. This is part one of the chapter, I plan to finish the second part tonight.
