As soon as Mrs. Johnson finished telling us what we were doing today, I started to sketch. Our project was to create a portfolio about our selves. We had to include at least two drawings portraying us, one full body and one of just our head. We also had to include an image of ourselves doing an activity we enjoy as well as a mini sculpture of ourself. She told us we could use any technique to finish this and we could add pieces if we wanted to. I had decided to draw my face with charcoal, use normal pencils and pens to sketch my body, paint myself doing soccer, and use clay to do a sculpture if me sitting in class. I was also considering adding a scratch art of one of my grandparents' dogs and creating a collage of all of my favorite activities such as reading, playing soccer, learning, spending time with my family, etc. We spent the rest of class working on our portfolios before the bell rang. Sarah and I grabbed or supplies before running off to our separate classes. I was heading towards Home Economics, once I entered the classroom I smiled because today we were going to be learning how to cook. I love cooking despite the fact that I'm horrible at it. Most of my "meals" are used as charcoal for our fireplace. Our teacher, Mr. Willis had just began speaking in a ridiculous fake French accent when the door open and an unfamiliar voice said, "I'm so sorry I'm late! I can't find any of my classrooms in these mazes of hallways, is this Mr. Willis' room?" Mr. Willis smiled brightly and earned quite a few giggles when he, still using his horrendous accent, said, "Welcome to our cooking lesson, you are our new student no? Why don't you introduce yourself to us?" She was a beautiful girl, with an intriguing color if eyes that seemed to be a mixture of deep brown and a..... Red? Cool! She also had some light brown hair. The new girl smiled and started to introduce herself, "My name is Evelyn but most people call me Evie. I love to play hockey and read. Um... I just moved here." Mr. Willis clapped his hands enthusiastically and had Evie sit by me. "Hello Evie, my name is Helena. If you would like I could show you to your next classes." Evie looked relieved as I said this. "Thank you so much, I am so lost in this school and no one will help me out." I gave her a small smile. "Don't worry, it's no problem at all. You seem like a really nice and fun person. Can I see you schedule?" She handed me the piece of paper the office had given her and I was happy to see that we shared several classes. "Well we only have three more classes until the day is over, it'll be fun getting to know you!" The teacher started talking so we turned our attention to class.
