I am so sorry for the delay in an update, I have been very busy with school work lately. Because of my busy schedule, I can not promise to update every week or have a regular updating calendar so I apologize for that.
"Why is homework so HARD?!" Yup, that was me. I have grown so pitiful I have reached the point where I scream at the wall in a hopeless attempt to find the answer to all of my math problems written in neat, readable rows. Sighing, I laid down my hPad (hologram pads, a relatively old invention by apple that has been distributed to all of the students in my school) and got up find a snack. My mom and sister were out getting groceries so I was all alone, well not completely alone. I have my fuzzy socks! I quick glance past the green gel and I decide to have some raspberries. Yanking the raspberries, heavy whipping cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon out I quickly set to work making some delicious whipped cream to top my fruity jewels. Taking my treat, I walked back upstairs and crawled into my queen sized bed that felt like fluffy heaven. After spending about four minutes sitting, eating, and thinking about the universe (I was currently having an imaginary argument with the President about the great importance and value in Nutella), when suddenly the power went out. Creeped out, I glance outside my window and stare in shock at the beautiful stars above me. The sky was full of light! I am able to see stars, but they are dim and very few on a normal day, with the power out they light up the entire sky in an endless starry tunnel. It takes a moment to register the fact that the power was out throughout the entire city, no light anywhere besides the headlights on the few straggling car and the beams of battery and solar powered flashlights. Quickly I grab my phone and call my mom. "Hello? HELENA! Oh, thank god, I was so worried about you. Rose and I are on our ay home, it will be about half an hour. For some reason, only one station is being broadcasted and it's just mumbling in another language, I can't tell which. We have no idea what happened. Do you?" Well, it was nice to know my mom was the same as every other day. The dark house was eerie, each shadow appeared to my eyes as an attacker watching, waiting. Alone and scared, I fell asleep in a tight ball.
I was awoken from my dreamless slumber by the pop popping sounds coming from outside. Suddenly a women's shrill scream shattered the once quiet night and a boy's agony filled cries awoke the block. A ten-second gap, I'm at the door. Eight seconds later the lock is thrown and the door swings open. The silhouette of a tall, muscly man stand tall across the street and two figures were crouched beneath the gun held menacingly in his hands. The woman and boy I had heard were those two people, the woman holding her limp son to her chest, sobs wracking through her body. The man's booming voice rose over the street as doors started to open up and down the block.
"YOU TRAITORS! ALL OF YOU ARE TRAITORS! YOU TURNED YOUR BACKS UPON THOSE IN NEED. WAR HAS DESTROYED THE REST OF OUR WORLD AND NO HELP CAME FROM THE OH SO GOOD AMERICANS. OUR CHILDREN DIED AND SO SHALL YOURS! BEWARE THE POWER OF THOSE WHO SURVIVE FOR WE HAVE SURVIVED AND WE WILL FIGHT!"
I was petrified with fear, chills raced up and down my back as the monster cackled and turned back to the woman. Suddenly I found myself on top of him, he gasped for air as he tried to lift himself off the ground. I stand and attack again, this time rendering him a punch that will make his eye shine black for days. His wicked knife slices through the air and bites my arm before I can react. I kick him hard in the knee cap and step on his wrist when he tumbles to the ground. The knife skids away and teeters on the edge of a drain. Crimson blood touches his cheek but my pain does not register. I drop and dig my knee to his chest, punching him in the face over and over again while his arms fly at air. Suddenly his fist hits my temple and I fall to the ground beside him. Black rims my vision as I watch the approaching police cars.
