On the way there we tell Alice we sort of have a plan and sort of don't. We will know more after the appointment. It takes half and hour to get there and while walking in I hold Betty's hand. I can tell she's nervous. I am too. We walk inside the building as Alice signs Betty in. They get us in fairly quickly.

We are in a ultrasound room. Alice sits in a chair by the wall and I stand next to Betty. It's a young women who will be doing the ultrasound. "Name?" She asks. "Elizabeth Cooper." The women nods and squeezes gel on Betty's stomach. Betty said the gel was cold and the woman apologized. Betty reached out for my hand. "Is this your first ultrasound?" The tech asks and Betty nods. "I'm going to place this- on your stomach and if you look at the screen over there- you'll be able to see your baby!" The woman exclaims and points to objects in the room. Betty nods smiling. She presses the object onto her stomach. We all gasp. Something inside my heart melts. "I can see the baby's head!" Betty exclaimed and looks back at me smiling. I can't help myself from smiling. This is beautiful. Alice gets up and steps close to see the baby. "Looks like your about two months." The lady says taking pictures and writing things down. "Does the baby look good?" I ask her and she nods. "I don't see anything wrong or that sticks out." She says and Betty smiles very brightly. "Is it a girl or a boy?" Betty asks and the woman laughs a little. "It's to soon to tell but I might be able to tell in a few weeks." She says taking a closer look at the baby. "Wait- are you taking any prenatal vitamins or anything for the baby?" The woman asks and Betty shakes her head no. "Start." The woman says and Betty begins worrying. The woman reassured her and said it would help the baby. The ultrasound is finished and we get photos printed to show to jellybean later. Now we have to talk to some kind of specialist doctor. While waiting in the waiting room for him a nurse takes us into another room to get Betty's blood drawn. She hates needles. It's so cute to see her reaction to it. I hold her hand tightly as they draw the blood. She exhaled. I start talking about nonsense and she laughs. Taking her mind off what's happening. "Done." The man drawing blood says and Betty turns to look at him. "Already?" She asks so innocently. "Mhm" the guy is rude. We were instructed to wait in the waiting room until called to talk to Dr. Francis. In the waiting room we are all talking.
"Betty your going to school tomorrow. I don't care what you say your going. Stop skipping." Alice says randomly in the middle of a good conversation we were having. Before we even said anything she talks again. "Jughead you aren't doing her any good either. Your basically encouraging her not to go to school." Alice scolded me. "Mom it has nothing to do with jughead. I'm being harassed at school and I know it won't happen when jughead goes." Betty try's explaining but Alice doesn't listen. "You two are disgusting. Pregnant at 17 and you both act so proud." She says under her breath. "Mom you were a teen mom too, but you put your up for adoption." Betty said cruelly. I squeeze my hand on her thigh warning her to calm down. "I regret it. It happened to me once. This is the second time. Learn to put a damn condom on or take a pill!" She whisper yells at Betty and I. "In our defense- the first time I did wear one. Second time I forgot but Betty took a plan B pill the night of and it didn't work so." I speak up quietly. "Stop having sex!" Alice says looking directly in my eyes and I hear Betty stifle a laugh. "You two are throwing your lives out! What made you think I would be happy about this?!" She yells loudly in the waiting room. "Shhh!" Betty silenced her mom. Then there was quiet for about 15 minutes. "Elizabeth Cooper." A woman calls Betty's name and we all stand up. "Stay out here until I tell you to come in." Betty tells her mom and Alice looks offended. Betty and I walk to the lady and she takes us to a back room. We sit down next to each other in the chairs and look at our baby's ultrasound. The woman leaves then comes back with the doctor. A older man. "Doctor Francis." He introduced himself to us and we did the same. We sit eagerly waiting for him to talk to us. "What exactly did you expect from this visit?" He asks us. "I want to know if I have fertility issues. I'm pregnant now and I don't want to terminate if it's the only baby I'll ever get." Betty explains to him and I see his face shift. Oh no.
