The boy looked up, his face turning shocked, and his mouth dropped open as he tried to say something. Before she could stop herself, she ran to her brother, throwing her arms around him, shaking as her fingers dug into his shirt.

Everything Charlie had wanted to say, everything he had wanted to scream at her for not seeing him, for choosing her job over him, and avoiding him, died on his tongue. He could barely process that she was here, and she was hugging him. All of his fight went out of him, and he sunk down into his sisters arms, breaking into sobs so suddenly, it startled everyone.

"Charlie?" Allie asked softly. "Charlie, what's--"

"I missed you." He sobbed, clinging to his sister, not wanting her to leave him again. "I missed you so much."

Allie held him tighter, soothing him. She ran a hand through his hair, and pulled away slightly, cupping his cheek. His face was red, and soaked with tears, and his eyes were glassy. "Oh, Charlie. I'm so sorry."

"What did I do?" He sobbed. "Was it me? Was it my fault."

Allie shook her head quickly. "No. It was all me. It had nothing to do with you."

"I'm sorry, Allie." He cried harder. "I've been so awful. I-I thought if I acted out, you'd hear about it, and you'd get mad at me and come home. I thought you'd come and see me if I was horrible. But...but you never came."

As Allie's heart broke, everything began to make sense to Carol. That was why he was always looking into the hallways whenever he was in the office. He wasn't looking for a way out, he was looking for his sister. It was his Dad's attention he was after, it was Allie's.

The two had a quiet conversation with each other. Finally, Charlie wiped his face, feeling like a little boy again, and he asked, "How come you're in here together?"

"We're in house arrest together." Allie said.

"You haven't killed each other, yet?" he asked in confusion.

Allie rolled her eyes fondly. "No, we...are friends now."

"Friends?"

"Yes."

"You and Bernard?"

"Yes."

"Friends?"

Allie let out a laugh of disbelief. "Yes, Charlie. Why is that so hard to believe?"

Charlie shrugged, and sarcastically said, I don't know. Maybe because you guys used to kill each other with your eyes."

Allie rolled her eyes mumbled about how he was being dramatic. Bernard steps forward, grabbing Allie's wrist. "As happy as I am for you guys to see each other again, we have work to do."

Allie nodded, squeezing Charlie's cheek once more, before running towards the workshop with Bernard.
