Allie still was not used to using elf magic.

So when she and Bernard appeared in the Miller's kitchen, she nearly collapsed on the floor. She tried to stabilize herself, not understanding how Bernard was perfectly fine. She tried to pull a chair out, but ended up falling forward. Bernard caught her, muttering something to himself. The elf even sat down, and began picking at the food they had been eating.

"Really?" Allie whispered, her head still spinning.

"I'm hungry." Bernard defended quietly, stuffing mashed potatoes in his mouth.

The blonde rolled her eyes, unable to help the smile that appeared on her face. Bernard was going from dish to dish, eating as much as he could.

"When's the last time you've eaten?" Allie questioned.

Bernard shrugged, his mouth full of food. "Four-five-six days? It gets stressful around the holidays."

"You haven't eaten in six days?" Allie asked.

"I said maybe six days," Bernard said. "It may have been longer."

Allie shook her head, muttering under her breath. How stressful could it really get around this time of year? They had a whole year to work, and it wasn't like they were cramming to do stuff last minute.

The blonde girl grabbed a roll herself, dipping into the gravy and taking a bite. Bernard reached forward, grabbing some turkey next. After taking a bite, he pulled a face. "Boy this bird is dry. Haven't you people heard about basting?"

"Bernard!" Charlie exclaimed. "Allie!"

Bernard stood up, wiping his fingers on a napkin. He stood up, grabbing his coat. "Hiya, sport."

He ruffled Charlie's hair as the boy began to beg. "Bernard, can I go? Please, can i go, Bernard?"

"It's okay with me."

Allie stood up, a sinking feeling began to form in her gut. That did not sound like a good idea.

"Charlie, you should stay," Allie said. "You know how Mom gets."

"Please!" Charlie begged, looking between the two, and then back at Scott. "Please!"

Scott stared at the three in front of them, and Allie sighed, recognizing the look on his face. "When Mom freaks out, I'm saying 'I told you so'."

"Come on, don't bring the mood down." Bernard said, nudging her.

"I'm only saying," she started.

When their voices got a little too loud, Scott said, "Okay, okay! We don't have time for arguing. Allie, please just try to get along with Bernard."

"Me?" The girl huffed, though she did soften a bit. "I'm only saying, because you know how Mom is especially with Charlie-"

Allie was cut off by Bernard grabbing her arm. The next thing she knew, she was disappearing in a gust of glitter.
