It was hard trying to get back to a normal life in the crown city of Insomnia, [y/n] was feeling the sharp edge of it when she tried returning to the life she knew before being a simple girl running her own fashion store, but this past week her mind was filled with the thought of Ignis. She remembered she met him in Hammerhead when she somehow escaped the attack on the city; she traveled there to be with Cindy her best friend knowing that was the only place safe right now, and everything seemed to fall together she started traveling with Ignis and the others creating a strong bond of friendship with them but something about Ignis just made them slowly fall in love with each other even though she told herself many times that it could never work for them, his family was of noble rank while she was a normal girl running her own shop, even if she was given a rank being the king's stylist after they returned it still couldn't work out, but Ignis seemed to keep calling her almost every single day when he could.

Today [Y/n] was just closing up her shop for the night when her phone started ringing once more showing it was Ignis who was calling, she sighed before telling her assistant she needed to take this having her vanish to the back of the store answering her phone to speak to Ignis.

"Ignis, you have to stop calling" she said feeling nervous about talking to him after many weeks of trying to avoid him.

"No, I'm not going to stop calling until we talk" he said to her she could hear the desperate tone in his voice that he wanted to talk to her about what happened between them and what could still be between them.

"I don't want to do this, okay so I....I'm just going to hang up the phone right now, just please don't try to find me okay" she said sounding lost and not sure what to do and the only way she knew was running away like she always did, but the sound of a car horn outside her office window caught her by surprise when she turned around.

Her body seemed to relax when she saw Ignis outside her office window standing beside a car, someone must have driven him here since he couldn't drive himself anymore but seeing him doing well made her heart ache less and she had to fight herself from running out of her door and running to his arms.

"Too late" he said with a small smile and a shrug knowing that he wasn't going to leave her alone.

"Why are you doing this" she sighed when looking at him outside her window, even if he couldn't see her anymore it felt like he was looking straight through her to her soul.

"Do you really have to ask?" Ignis asked knowing she was fighting her emotions like she did, he could read her like a book just like how she can read him like a book two pieces missing from a puzzle coming together.

"I'm not coming out, I-I can't" she said wrapping her free arm around herself trying to ground herself in anyway.

"What are you afraid of, love?" he asked her, calling her by her little nickname he gave her without knowing it.

"Ignis, you have to understand nothing can happen anymore between us, I'm just a girl running her own store this is something I can count on and it's what I need right now; I don't fit in your world" [y/n] explained as best she could without breaking into tears that she could feel building up in her eyes as she explained.

"I do understand that, but what you think that you still need you don't need anymore; look at me love, all my life all I wanted was to be only and to serve my king; and it's hard for people like us to, to trust to let people in, it's hard I understand. But here I am right here right now, and I am speaking to the woman that I love" Ignis could hear the fear in her voice when she explained and he understood her fear, he never thought he would find someone, but he found her, and he fell deeply in love with her. "And I'm begging you to trust me, just let me in darling please" he begged her to understand that he needed her in his life just as much as she needed him in her life. "If you need time to think, I will give you that wish darling just know that I will not stop loving you" Ignis continued knowing that she might need time to think about what to do before giving him an answer.

"I-I would like some time" she stuttered letting some tears fall not knowing what to do right now, she needed time to think over her emotions.

Ignis said nothing more as he sighed letting her hang up her phone, he hung up his phone as well as he turned to the car and crawling in closing the door letting the car drive off from her shop as he was left to wonder and wait for her answer.

It was around the end of the day as Ignis slowly walked down the stairs of the Citadel listening to Prompto talk about some pictures he took of the new parts of the city; Ignis was thinking back to [y/n] who might not give him the answer he hopes he was wanting, they touched flat surface still talking about the simple things in life Ignis didn't hear the footsteps that were walking towards him and the others.

"Hey, [Y/n]!" Prompto shouted in surprise bringing everyone's attention to [y/n].

Ignis turned to where Prompto shouted out her name, to his left; even though he couldn't see her he could tell she was wearing a warm smile on her face when he turned his attention towards her, he couldn't stop himself from walking towards her hearing her steps walking towards him as well; his heart hammered against his chest the closer he came closer to [y/n]. He felt her arms wrap around him the moment his arms wrapped around her holding her close to him burying his face into her soft hair that smelled of vanilla he missed her scent so much and holding her in his arms he knew very well what her answer was, and he couldn't be happier to have her in his life forever
