"You're joking right?" Gladio asked his father Clarus who sat in front of him at the dining table of their home bringing this news to Gladio when he came to visit Iris and his mother for a while.
"I am serious Gladio, you have been given enough time to yourself and enough time to make the choice yourself, but I had to make it for you; we will be meeting your future wife tomorrow and a date will be set for the wedding" Clarus spoke to Gladio knowing that he needed to step in for Gladio to keep the line of Amicitia going through the years for more future kings that will come along once Luna and Noctis marry.
Gladio just sighed heavily, feeling annoyance bubbling inside of him as he pinched the bridge of his nose with this news he was just thrown today; he could only imagine what kind of wife his father picked out for him and what she would be like, was she some sort of rich brat? Would she demand his attention 24/7 even though the king takes up most of his attention, so many thoughts were running through his mind right now.
"Is there any way to avoid this?" Gladio had to ask his father in any hopes of not going through this at all.
"You don't have to like her or love her; she is there to do only what a wife needs to do" Clarus said to him knowing that it would take a miracle for even Gladio to find someone that could match him in anything, his son was too much of a playboy to even understand what love actually felt like.
Gladio said nothing more when he stood up and walked out of the dining room sighing heavily to himself wondering how the hell this is going to go, so many things were going through his mind about who his bride could be; there were a lot of noble women that would die to be his wife and he didn't want to feel like he was trapped in a loveless marriage he now found himself right now.
The next day came faster than Gladio wanted it to, he followed his father dressed in his normal black leather jacket and leather black jeans with biker boots; he wasn't going to dress up fancy to meet someone and pretend that he is something that he is not. He felt like he could barely think right now with the thoughts still in his mind as he followed his father down the hall of the Citadel and coming closer to one of the meeting rooms. His father opened the door allowing them both to come in Gladio closed the door behind them.
"Lord Galaxia, this is my son and heir Gladiolus Amicitia a fine crownsguard and shield of our prince Noctis" Clarus spoke up greeting the man in front of him with a firm handshake before pointing out Gladio in the room who stood tall and proud of his title and family.
"I wouldn't think of anything less from the family of Amicitia, pleasure to meet you Gladio I feel my only daughter is in good hands" Lord Galaxia spoke with a warm kind smile to Gladio who shook hands with him feeling safe to give his daughter's hand to Gladio.
"She'll be well taken care of, sir" Gladio spoke knowing that he will make sure that she is taken of and confrontable in their marriage.
"Ah, there she is come, come my little diamond meet your future husband" Lord Galaxia saw his daughter arrive through the door a proud smile on his face as he beckoned his daughter forward.
Gladio turned to face his future wife, his eyes widen in shock actually she wasn't anything he thought she'd be; her [h/c] hair was braided in down pigtails held by purple bows. big glasses framed her face in order for her to see as she slightly kept her head down, she had striking [e/c], eyes. She wore a white lace long shirt with a brown knee length skirt with simple black heel shoes, he did notice that she had some chunk to her unlike other girls who always seemed slim and to skinny, Gladio honestly thought she was a good-looking girl.
"H-hello I'm [y/n] Galaxia" she stuttered a bit with blush coming to her cheeks when he eyes met his for the first time since she came in her.
"Hi, I'm Gladio" he gave her a gentle warm smile trying to not look so intimidating, she did only come up to his chest after all.
She smiled and blushed even more when she looked back down at her feet probably feeling more nervous than Gladio was feeling right now, the Galaxia family was well known in the council king Regis knew the Galaxia family just as long as the Amicitia, not much was known about the family other than the council meetings; so, this was going to be interesting learning about her family.
"Splendid, I think the wedding should be in a week what do you think of that Clarus?" Lord Galaxia spoke with a hop in his step when turning to his old friend Clarus who chuckled to himself.
"I believe that will do nicely, we shall see you both at the wedding" Clarus agreed to the time of the wedding knowing that they needed to make it fast since royal cuties would get in the way of a long wait for a wedding.
Clarus headed towards the door with his friend Lord Galaxia leaving [y/n] and Gladio in the room alone for a moment, Gladio rubbed the back of his neck nervous on what to say or even do right now as she played with her fingers looking down just as nervous as he was.
"Well, um, I'll see you in a week then" Gladio said not knowing what to say really to her.
"Y-yes I'll see you then" she said with a stutter again before darting off to be by her father's side as Gladio followed behind her standing by his father's side as both their father's said their goodbyes to plan the wedding with the help of their wives.
Gladio couldn't help but look back at [y/n] again, she was very beautiful to look at she was the shy book girl type for sure; he didn't mind that at all. He saw her glance at him as well before looking away blushing he also noticed she wrapped her arms around her stomach area; he was sure that she was ashamed of her being a big girl he hopes he can help change her mind about that, he actually preferred some meat on his women actually; but they were both hoping things would smooth over once things are settled.
