Lord Hensley Weiss
A pragmatic young man who saw his father as a foolish old geezer. He is the current head of the Weiss family and rules it with an iron grip. Although their relationship had long been soured, the late Sir Weiss still trusted in his eldest son to care for the family, and in his own way, Hensley has.

Sir Amory Weiss
Lazy, lackadaisical, yet still the "perfect" model of a knight according to his dear adopted brother. Amory is a confident man whose skill with a sword is as great as his skill with a pen and the opposite sex. As the second son, Amory followed in his father's footsteps as a knight after his elder brother Hensley stepped up as the governing heir, but his true passion is poetry and theatre.  He is sharp-tongued, though many respect him as a formidable fighter.

Lady Iselda and Isaldina Weiss
Precocious twin girls with unusual insight yet a penchant for michief. Belphan etiquette requires young noblewomen to be trained in hostessing, the arts, and other domestic crafts, but both Iselda and Isaldina take after their brothers as skilled swordswomen. Although they will never see a true battlefield, the twins are content with their lives of opulence.

Jeanne Aue
Tomboyish, cheerful, and unfalteringly upbeat, Jeanne is a ray of sunshine among the staff and Richard's good friend. She is a faithful woman and regularly accompanies Richard to church services, but her headstrong nature clashes with the traditions of the upper class. Despite earning herself a bit of scorn for her manner of appearance and conduct, Jeanne tries to see the silver lining in dark situations.

Sir Clitherow
An old knight who fought alongside and had a close relationship with the late Sir Weiss. He is strict and demanding of those under his tutelage; Richard often found himself physically and mentally battered after long days under Sir Clitherow's supervision. Despite that, he genuinely cares for the Weiss family and Richard most of all.

Mrs. Walter
A gentle senior staff member of the Weiss family. She was the head cook in her forties and "retired" to an easier maid position a decade later. Mrs. Walter has a calming presence about her and filled in the role of young Richard's mother figure, yet she treated him more like a friend in need of guidance than a child... At least, that's what she claims. Her love for baking manifested in the form of countless gifted treats for Richard's enjoyment.
