The Next Day

I was slowly awakened by my older sister Jackie. I didn't even remember lying down in this bed. All I know is I felt like I had a bad hangover. "Good morning baby sis" she smiled handing me a cup of tea.

"Good morning" I yawned grabbing the cup of tea from her hands.

"What, how did you get here?

"You don't remember a thing do you? She laughed.

"Uh no I don't" I said taking a sip.

"Do you remember going to a party last night? She

asked. "Of course it was for Drew's Birthday" she said. "Well apparently you had way too much to drink. You attempted to drive home but you were under the influence an officer had to break into your car to get you to stop the car."

"What? No that's insane" I said looking at my phone. I had about 15 missed calls, 30 messages, and 10 voice mails. That's how my phone is because I'm a busy woman.

"No, Jackie please don't tell me I did this"

"You did, the officer dropped the charges because he found out you were a judge. Made sure you were okay, sent you to the ambulance and then he contacted me." She explained.

"Oh my gosh, this is crazy I'm so ashamed"

"Why would you drive if you knew you were drunk? You know better. You're lucky moms doesn't know" she said

"Please don't tell, and I don't know I was just having a good time. You know half of the time I don't have off time or anything. I'm stressed debating about this fertility and I could kill my cousin. So I may have had way too much but I felt fine when I went in the vehicle. I guess, I guess it just crept on me."

"You think" she said. "You could have killed

yourself and other people. You're lucky your ass wasn't arrested for DUI"

"I know Jackie geesshh get off my back"

"Listen we've already lost too many people in this

family you don't need to be next" she said. I smirked "And I won't, I promise" I said holding her hand.

"Alright, well you better contact that officer and thank him. He didn't have to do that" she said. "Trust me I will, but first I need to get myself together "I whined laying back on the couch. My

sister lives up the street from me and she's always over here when she hears the scoop from the heartbreaks, to the sick days she's a true ride or die. I called my friend Trent he was also an officer and I knew he would know who the guy was or at least pull his information up. He finally answered

"Tia, Tia, Tia you're in trouble girl" he said. I sighed "How many people know"

"A lot" he laughed.

"Really" I whined. I could beat myself up for possibly ruing my reputation. "I'm just playing, not a lot you're good"

"You play too much but I need to know the name of the guy who practically saved me"

"Oh that's Jacob, Jacob Latimore I've worked with him before but he's not in my station. He's on 67th street" he explained.

"Anything else I need to know?

"What you want a background check Tia? He laughed. "Yes, I do" I said

"Uh he's 27 well actually 28 his birthday is today. Been an officer for about 4 years attended North Brook"
