I stopped at my parent's house for a quick visit before the ceremony. I had a lot on my mind and needed a little clarity and I know parents are great at that, that's just the gift they have. I was a little sad before of my brother's passing although its been about 15 years ago this particular day reminded me of him, everyday that I'm working as being an officer reminds me of him and it sucks that he wouldn't be able to share that moment with me. I knocked on the door waiting for them to answer. My dad quickly opened the door.

"Hey son" he said giving me a hug. "Hey dad, what's going on?

"Nothing just being a slave in the kitchen helping your mom you know how that goes" he laughed. "You're looking nice there" he said.

"Thanks, I gotta look good for the ball" I said. "I taught you well" he said going in the kitchen as I followed him. "Hey Ma" I said. "Hey baby" she said while rolling dough. "How are you? She asked kissing me on the cheek. "I'm alright" I said

"Now you know, I know when you're lying talk to mama" she said. I chuckled " Its just Tia" I said.

"Ever since the miscarriage she's hasn't been herself. She has me stressing" I said

"Well she did lose a baby Jacob, although it happened very quickly and it wasn't prepared that may have met a lot to her plus I heard miscarriages are painful and she had it at her business the poor girl is just traumatized" She explained.

"I guess but its been two weeks" I said. "Jake you're being insensitive you just want her to pop up and be happy well she's not you have to be patient. Were you over your brother's death in two weeks? She asked. I felt myself getting tense at that last statement although it was true she acts like I don't know but now I was upset thinking about it.

"No I wasn't" I said holding in my emotions. I did enough crying and I wasn't going to cry anymore. "Okay then so you suck it up, and be patient with her. You have a lovely woman I wouldn't want you to mess that up because of you being so insensitive" she said

"Dang Ma! Now your making it seem like I'm evil all I said was I'm stressing" I explained.

"I know you're not honey, you're a great man but I just want you to be a little more

"Tender" My dad jumped in and said. "Woman are different, they need love, understanding & patience. PATIENCE not when its beneficial to you but when its beneficial to them" he said.

"Okay okay I'll relax" I said.

"Please do, well you look nice when are you two coming over for dinner again? She asked. I grabbed my keys "You just send the word and will be there" I said.

"Alright you two have fun" they said in unison. I closed the door sending Tia a text telling her I was on my way.

Tia

I swirled around in my olive green gown I got from bebe that I absolutely loved. It was simple tight fitted with gold stones in the back. I brushed my hair done looking in the mirror. Hoping tonight would be great I needed to get my mind of off things. I was stressed about my shop still closed and the amount of angry emails from disappointed customers I was getting, I was starting to feel like I made a huge mistake by quitting my career, & I'm not in the mood for sex or even intimacy and I know that can be deal breakers in relationships. Although its only been two weeks I know Jacob will try it and I'll just have to shut him down again. I just hope he wont run off just because he can't get any. I took a shot to calm my nerves, I heard my door bell ring and I knew it was him.
