a week had passed, seokmin's wounds soon found themselves healing, but as time swept by, his heart grew at war, swelling to the point his every thought became suffocating.
"you're conflicted," seungkwan spoke in a knowing tone as he sat besides his friend, offering him a glass of water, which the latter gladly accepted, whispering a small thank you as he took a sip before placing it to the side of him.
"anything you want to talk to me about?" the younger continued, reminiscing back to when seokmin would tell him anything, consult him of his worries and excitements; now he spoke of nothing, he never confided in him anymore, never asked for help in situations he found difficult. seungkwan didn't expect an answer, he didn't expect seokmin to make him aware of his troubling thoughts.
seokmin spoke to himself in a muffled tone before reaching to take another sip of water, this time the sip turning into large gulps as he finished the cold beverage almost immediately. his eyes were fixed towards a lonely lamp post that sat perched upon a hill outside of the window.
seungkwan swallowed down the lump in his throat then let out a dry sigh, he was preparing himself to speak again, he didn't want to just sit in silence when he knew seokmin was struggling inside his mind. he opened his mouth slowly, his eyes tipping to the side as he readied his words.
"i don't know what to do."
seungkwan's ears suddenly perked upwards, trying his best not to whip his head towards the older. he fought the smile that urged to be upon his face, for seokmin was finally speaking to him, "about what?"
"i want to see him again."
seungkwan knew exactly who he was talking about, and he couldn't help but feel sorry for him. his heart ached for his friend because he knew how strong his and jisoo's relationship was, he knew how much they relied and adored one another. he knew how much they both suffered after the break up.
"he broke my heart, but here i am, thinking of him nonstop," he chuckled whilst he held his lips against the rim of the glass cup in his hand, his eyes appeared foggy, lost in thought, "back then you always told me i chased after him too much, that i was too clingy, i never believed you, but thinking back now, i realise that maybe i was."
"i did so many things wrong back then, maybe that's why he left so easily."
a frown appeared on seungkwan's face, "that's not true and you know it," he turned to face the taller, laying a hand on his shoulder, rubbing it to try and soothe his thoughts.
seokmin hummed as he nodded slowly, the corner of his lips tilting upright, "i'll believe you, just this once," he let out a sad, quiet, laugh, hoping that if he believed seungkwan's words, he'd feel somewhat better.
they sat in a deep silence for around thirty seconds, neither of them knowing what to say next; over the years, talks like this between the two had grown to become somewhat alien. "wanna go to the arcade?" seokmin groaned in a convincing tone whilst stretching out his limbs, hauling himself to his feet as he held out a hand for seungkwan.
seungkwan remained seated whilst thinking of his answer, "but we're not allowed to leave base unless jun is with us."
seokmin could feel his face beginning to collapse to one of disappointment, "please? kwan, i miss hanging out with you, i know it may not seem like that sometimes, but i really do."
less than seconds later did seungkwan find himself being hauled upwards and off of the ground by the taller male, readying fresh pairs of clothing for their sudden activity. although refusing multiple times, the younger male then found himself being bundled up into one of seokmin's oversized padded coats, with a scarf and beanie too being propped upon his body, "we can't have you catching a cold," the curly haired male chuckled rather childishly before booping seungkwan on the nose, making a sound effect whilst doing so.
seungkwan just stood dazed as he still struggled to process what was going on. add to the fact that he hadn't actually left the gang's premises without somebody in charge supervising for more than two years, it all felt so wrong, but so right at the same time that he couldn't help but feel drawn to the idea.
"come on, we're losing daylight," seokmin flashed seungkwan a sunny smile, a genuine smile, one that could heal the whole world.
seungkwan nodded, too returning the smile as he felt his hand become intertwined with seokmin's.
he hadn't felt this excited to do something in a long, long time.
