I awoke with a start. My heart racing, thumping loudly in my ears. Breathing heavy, frantically looking around, trying to get my bearings. Slowly remembering I had just moved.

'Yet again.' internally sighing, then stopping abruptly.

'Wait...' I thought, hopelessly trying to recollect what woke me up.

'Did I have a nightmare, or just a really weird dream? I don't know, maybe it's just "first day" jitters.' I think to myself.

I shake myself out of it and climb out of bed. I grab some clothes and a towel, heading to the bathroom. I take my shower, humming along, still trying to remember this morning and push the thought from my mind, so I can get on with my day. I dry off and get dressed. I had decided that since it was supposed to be nice out today, I would wear my favorite dark purple blouse, a black half-corset over it. Paired with my gothic pants, buckles and all, and my black knee-high boots. I brushed out my hair and put it in a messy bun. Walking around my room, I grab my phone, keys and anything else I'll need for the day and head downstairs.

'Ugh... I really don't want to cook anything for breakfast.' Thinking to myself, about halfway down. I decide to go to the coffee shop just down the street and get something there.

I grab a light hoodie, head outside and lock my door. I turn down the sidewalk and begin walking to the coffee shop. I arrive in about five minutes and walk in.

"Hello." The barista, greeting me with a smile.

"Hello. How are you?" I reply, smiling myself.

"I'm great, and you?" she says.

"Not quite awake..." giggling, "but I'm great." I reply.

"Well, that's good..." giggling herself a little bit, "and maybe I can help with the whole "awake" thing." doing the air quotes when she said it.

"What can I get for you?" she asked.

"I was hoping you could," I say, "I will have a mocha cappuccino with a blueberry muffin please."

"Wonderful choice." she said back as I handed her some cash to pay.

"I'll have that right out for you."

She handed me my change, I thanked her and turned to find a seat. I found a little table and sat down waiting for my order. I looked out the nearby window to see what was around, being new in town and all. I noticed a little bookstore and made a mental note to go scope it out later.

"Here you go." says the barista, breaking me from my thoughts.

"Thanks so much." I say, the barista walking off to return to her post.

I take a sip of my cappuccino and begin thinking of my agenda for the day. I pull a small notebook from my bag and start making a list while I finish my breakfast.

"Okay," I say quietly, "I know I need some new furniture. Oh, and some dishes. Hmm, what else?" pausing to think for a moment.

"Oh yeah," internally groaning, "I have to go to the grocery store." I finish up my breakfast and leave the coffee shop to go retrieve my car and get my work done for the day.

After running all over, I complete my list and am relieved that I can finally go home. I unload the car and get everything put away. I drag myself upstairs, change into my pajamas and climb into bed. Turning to put my phone on my nightstand, I notice that it's still a little early, so I turn on the television and find something to watch. About an hour or so goes by and I drift off.
