"Dalia, ¿estás aquí?"
She gasped at the sound, as the backdoor creaked open. She quickly grabbed Riff by the hand and pushed him into the small storage closet despite his silent protests. "¡Sí Bernardo! ¿Qué estás haciendo aquí?" Dalia exclaimed, with a nervous laugh, slamming it shut.
Three sharks accompanied the leader as they came from the storeroom and now stood behind the counter looking around. One of the sharks, she believed his name was Rocco, sneezed loudly as Chino handed him a handkerchief. Pepe walked around the counter and took Dalias into a tight hug. She didn't stop him since she knew that was improper, but she certainly did not return the embrace.
"Are you ok cariño? With the dirty gringo running around, I worried he would hurt you."
Dalia cringed, plastering a large fake smile on her lips and awkwardly patted him on the back. "I am fine, gracias..."
"¿Estás seguro de que no has visto nada?"
She let out a breath of relief as Bernardo interjected, ending the awkward interaction between the pair. "¡Sí! ¡Nada!" Dalia exclaimed, jumping out of Pepe's arms and instead walked in front of the closet that Riff was hidden in.
"What's in that?" Chino wondered, Dalia racked her brain to try and come up with a lie. "Uh, flowers! Filled to the brim, they will all fall if you open it so no way that a gringo could fit in here!" Bernardo nodded, believing her lie and gestured towards the back door with his head.
The sharks nodded, starting towards the exit, but Pepe paused and turned to face her. "¿Sí?" Dalia wondered, running a hand through her long black hair. He glanced behind him and gave Bernardo a nervous look. But Bernardo winked and nearly pushed the Sharks out the door, she took a sharp breath in and internally groaned.
Before she could react, Pepe grabbed her by the hand and pulled her close. Dalia squeaked slightly and gulped so frozen in shock she couldn't stop him. "Mi amor..." He whispered, looking down at her lips she chuckled nervously. But before she could speak, he had slammed his lips against hers.
His kiss was rough and did not make her feel anything other than disgust at the scent of his sweat. Pepe quickly pulled away and bolted after the sharks, leaving Dalia in a state of both frozen shock and distaste. She quickly shook herself out of the strange state though and turned to release Riff from his hiding place.
"Sorry about tha-"
She was now interrupted by Riff stepping forward and grabbing her by the hips, quickly pressing his lips against hers. Dalia's hands wrapped around his neck as her lips curled up slightly into a smile, butterflies swarmed her stomach and heat burned in her cheeks. This kiss was different from their other pecks, she could feel his passion that he pressed into her.
It was as though his entire goal of the kiss was to prove every feeling, he had for her. But Dalia tried to hold herself back, knowing that if she began to show her feelings, they would all come pouring out.
"That's how to kiss a girl." Riff smirked, finally pulling his mouth away from hers staring down into her brown eyes. Dalia let out a laugh and stared up at him, it was though she was staring into the ocean. Different energies crashed like waves, and it was the most stunning thing she had ever seen.
"Now come on, the rains almost gone." Riff said, looking out the window at the now tamed drizzle. Dalia raised an eyebrow, slipping her jacket on and buttoning the 4 plastic buttons. He opened the door for her, which made her smile softly as she walked past him and out of the shop.
"What a gentleman."
"Don't let anyone hear about it."
"And why's that?"
"Can't ruin my reputation." He smirked, as Dalia began to lock the window gates and then the shop's front door. Once she finished and turned around, Riff grabbed her by the hand and lifted her up to carry her bridal style in his arms. "AH!" She exclaimed in surprise, flailing her arms. Riff laughed at her clumsy arm movements but smiled as Dalia wrapped her arms around him instead to keep her balance.
"Come on doll, you gotta trust me." He joked, placing a kiss on her cheek and starting to walk down the street. Dalia felt her ears turn pink at the feeling of his lips on her skin, he smirked at the heat and tone.
"So where are we going?"
She changed the subject quickly, trying to stop her face from turning even more red, but he ignored her question while turning down a street. "You cannot avoid discussing the fact that you look like a tomato." Riff laughed, as she blushed even harder, staring down at the ground and away from him.
