Chapter Sixteen: Question..?

"Kaden?"

Miss Madison came home as I was sitting on the couch. I saw the look of confusion on her face as she shuts the door and looks towards Aubrey before looking at me.

"What are you doing here?"

"I was wondering if it was ok for me to stay here for a few days. My parents know."

Miss Madison looks at me before shifting her eyes to the side where Aubrey was sitting. I saw her look back at me before smiling and nodding.

"Of course." She walks through the living room and into the kitchen after a moment.

I look over at Aubrey and she looks over at me after a moment.

We didn't really talk much after having that conversation not even twenty minutes ago. I was still wanting to ask her more questions but figured it was best to shut up.

Aubrey was the type to not annoy cause she had this bad bitch front and her actions backed it up also.

So, we sat here in silence until Miss Madison walked through the door.

After a few minutes, Miss Madison walks in and smiles at us before asking Aubrey to walk upstairs for a moment. I watch as Aubrey gets up and follows her upstairs as I focused back on the tv.

As I was sitting there, I thought about Sage and what was probably happening right now. I knew he was looking for me and calling me, which I turned my phone off.

But it makes me wonder what was going on.

I wasn't about to go back right now and I didn't really want to go back at all.

The way things have been happening wasn't making sense or adding up in my mind. I knew that Sage was acting weird for years but it was getting to the point where I was having a serious bad feeling about everything.

The murder of my parents.

Sage acting off and the way he sneaks around.

The way things have been with us for the past few years and overlooking everything up until now.

It was something there but I wasn't sure what it was right now.

But I would find out soon.

After a few minutes, I saw Aubrey walk back downstairs before walking to the couch and sitting down.

Then, Miss Madison walks down and smiles at us before walking into the kitchen.

I look over at Aubrey for a moment before looking at the tv and moving a little to get more comfortable.

Aubrey sits there, watching tv and I glanced at her a few times but looked back at the tv. I always get a little nervous around her and sitting next to her, makes my nervousness go up higher.

It was an uncomfortable silence, besides the tv noise, so I was looking around the room and trying not to look over at her.

The tv wasn't even a distraction at this point.

Not with her next to me.

After a while, I decided to go turn my phone on and see if Sage called me. I walked upstairs and into the spare room before sitting on the bed and turning my phone on.

I sat there for a moment, waiting for it to come on before seeing a lot of missed calls pop up and messages.

Sage was blowing my phone up but I just read through the messages, seeing how pissed off he was getting before tossing my phone on my bed and sighing.

I ended up playing the Playstation to pass the time and before I even knew it, Izzy was getting home.

She came into the room and stopped to stare at me for a moment as I gave her a confused look. She smiles before motioning towards her backpack, which I knew what was about to come.

"I need help with my homework."

I sigh before walking out of the room and following her to her room. I saw Aubrey walking out of the bathroom and we made eye contact before I walked into Izzy's room.

We sat on her bed and I helped her with the homework that she had, but it was a little challenging to me cause I haven't did Algebra since Freshman year.

But I tried my best and we got it done in less than an hour.

I went back to the spare room and continued to play the Playstation.

The time went by and Miss Madison comes into my room and sits on the bed. I stop the game and look at her as she was looking at me with a smile on her face.

"I just have a question."

"Ok."

"If it gets too personal, I'll stop. But why haven't I met your parents yet? I know some people don't really like others meeting their family but since you've been friends with Isabella for so long, I just keep thinking about that."

I look at her for a moment before turning my attention back to the game. I held the controller in my hand before sighing and looking back at her.

"Just.. my family isn't very polite and.. I just don't like anyone meeting them."

Miss Madison kept looking at me, knowing I was lying but she didn't say anything. She smiles and nodded before leaving the room a little afterwards.

The lies and secrets I keep are something I don't like but I didn't want people knowing the murder of my parents cause they act weird around me or feel bad, which I didn't want that to happen.

I've known Izzy for years and she nevcr got to meet my parents cause their death came before she got into high school, so she never really knew them.

I sigh as I look at the tv before shaking my head and getting back to the game.

After a few minutes, I look over and see Aubrey walking into the room. I stare at her as she stops and crosses her arms as she looks at me.

"Yeah?" I question.

She never said anything for the next few moments, which was weird cause she stood there and looked around but never spoke.

Then when she looks over at me, she looks down for a moment and shifts on her feet before looking back at me.

"Do you want to hang out tonight?"

I furrow my eyebrows. "Um.." I paused, not knowing what to say. It caught me off guard and I looked over at the tv before looking back at her.

"You don't have to." She said.

After a moment, I slowly nod. "Sure. Why?"

"Just to hang out." She said. "Whenever you're ready."

I watch as she leaves the room, making me furrow my eyebrows and watch her disappear.
