Chapter Ten: A Little More Than on The Surface

Waking up in that bed was a little weird for me. I had to look around the room for a moment to realize that I wasn't at my house.

When I woke up, it was currently nine in the morning. I knew Izzy was gone to school, but I wasn't sure if I was even going to leave today or not.

I didn't want to deal with Sage and his bullshit, knowing that's what was going to happen when I finally go back home.

I usually don't ignore him and stay away from home unless he knows I'm staying at Izzy's, so I wasn't sure what was coming when I go back.

Sage had a mind of a pshycho and the way he acts was something I didn't like. He's been like that for years and I'm trying to understand it or get use to it but it's hard to do so when I'm basically living in a trapped envirnoment.

After I sat on the bed for a moment, looking through my phone, I slid my shoes on and made the bed. I walked out of the room before stopping and making sure it wasn't a mess before walking to the bathroom.

It was a little too quiet in the morning's here, which didn't bother me but since this house already gave me a weird vibe, it just added to it.

After I washed my handed, I walked out then stopped when Aubrey was walking out of her room. I saw her look in my direction and made eye contact before walking down the hall and down the stairs.

I walked the same way after a moment of watching her disappear, walking downstairs and into the kitchen where Miss Madison was cooking something on the stove.

Aubrey was at the fridge and I had my eyes on her for a moment before sitting down at the table.

I look towards Miss Madison and saw her turn towards me and smile. I watch as she brought over a pan before placing it on the table, displaying eggs and bacon in front of me.

"Good morning, Kaden. Did you call your parents any to tell them you were staying here? I know you're old enough but parents always worry." She smiles before walking back to the stove,

"Uh, yes." I said before catching Aubrey's eyes. She looks away and I did the same thing before hearing Miss Madison tell me to make a plate and eat.

After a few moments, I had a plate full of food in front of me before Miss Madison sat down across the table. I saw her smile at me before turning her attention towards Aubrey.

"Are you eating?" She asks.

I look over at Aubrey as she was standing in front of the counter. I saw her look at Miss Madison before shrugging and taking a sip of her drink that she had in her hands.

Then, Aubrey looks over at me and catches me watching her. I saw her stare at me for a moment before turning around and I looked away.

I ate as Miss Madison was talking to Aubrey, who came to sit down with us after a moment. I didn't bother to look up as I kept my head down towards my plate.

After we were done, I placed my dishes in the sink before turning around and running into Aubrey. I saw her look at me for a moment before leaning towards me, making me stare at her in confusion.

Then she dropped something in the sink and walked away.

I stared at the entrance for a moment before helping Miss Madison clean up a little. She was talking to me about random things and I enjoyed listening as well as the company.

After I was done, I decided to head back and deal with whatever was about to come. I told Miss Madison bye and she said that I could come over at any time.

I made sure I had everything before walking out the front door and looking over at the driveway to see Aubrey washing the car.

As I walked down the steps, I stared at her before she looks over and caught me. I look away before taking my phone out and looking at the time.
