Part 4

Rohit literally ran into the practice sessions, to get answers from Virat. He found him having some discussions with the management. He didn't want to create a scene and attract everybody but he was also not that patient.

"Umm-- sorry to interrupt you all but I have urgent and very important work with Virat. I am sorry but it cannot be delayed. So, please excuse us for a min", Rohit said and dragged Virat from there before he could object him.

Virat jerked his hand away, "What are you doing? Why are you dragging me? Leave me Rohit, is this way to behave--"

"Wow, you will teach me how to behave ha?", Rohit cut him off and yelled at him.

"What are you talking about?", Virat asked him again.

Rohit noticed that Virat didn't had that different look which he had infront of Mahi.

"What are you doing Vi? how can you say all those things about Bhai? you know how difficult it was for him, adding more to that you hurt him Vi. The last person he expected those words from, how could you say all that? Are you not sad or upset that bhai is leaving the captaincy? You were the one you used to say always-- 'Mahi bhai, you will always be my Captain'! What happened to you now?", Rohit asked him softly.

He looked at Virat keenly, as he was pretty good at masking his expressions but his eyes always gave it away.

Virat took a deep breath, "What do you want me to say? He just resigned from captaincy! Why are you making such a big issue about it? Oh god! I am tired, seriously! I didn't say anything wrong, it always happens like this, nothing new in it. Accept it! There is nothing to be sad about, so now please stop cribbing", he said and went from there.

Rohit sighed and turned to leave but he saw Mahi standing right behind him. His expressions clearly revealed that he had heard it all. Rohit felt bad for him.

"Bhai", he said softly moving towards him.

Mahi just blinked back his tears in attempt to stop them and said, "let's go to practice"

Mahi was never an overly emotional person. But in case of certain Cheeku rabbit he felt all those emotions. Because he was the person who broke all his walls, made him laugh till his cheekbones hurt, made him feel upset because according to his Cheeku its okay to be upset and cry!

Mahi saw Virat practicing with Jassi as if everything was normal. It was hurting him beyond imagination.

"Mahi bhai, come here! help me with improving my wicket keeping skills, please", Rishabh said and Mahi went there.

"Bhai, once done with Rishabh do come here please", Kuldeep said calling him.

Rohit saw Mahi got busy with Rishabh, he turned to check on Virat but he was not there.

"Where did he go? He was here just now", he thought.

He called Jassi, "Jas, where did Virat go?"

"I don't know bhai, he said there was some important work which he had to attend", Jassi said.

"What must be so important in middle of the practice session?", Rohit thought.

Before Rohit could go after Virat, team management called him as he was the VC now he had to attend that.

Once the practice session was over, Mahi came back to his room and saw Virat's stuff was packed and kept in a corner.

"You are shifting?", Mahi asked as he came out of the bathroom.

"Yes, just privacy you know", he said packing his remaining belongings.

"Why are you doing this Cheeku? What have I done to you? I always considered you as my brother and now you can't look at me and talk properly. Leave the captaincy aside, you are not even talking to me. Have I done anything wrong which may have hurt you? Tell me, I will try to make everything right! Just speak to me once, so that I understand what is bothering you-- once, Cheeku!", Mahi said in a broken tone not able to take it anymore.

Virat rolled his eyes at that.

"You know what, I am really tired explaining myself again and again. First Rohit asked me the same thing now again you are asking-- why can't you both let me be? I am irritated with line of questioning-- it seems that I have to always tell you what should I do? how should I behave? Can't I live my life according to me? Always inform you everything-- I am not a child", he said.

Mahi was stunned, broken by that words. But no, he is MS Dhoni he will not break down like this. So he is gonna try something else to get the reaction from him, to be very sure!

"So, you are telling me that we don't matter to you?", Mahi asked challenging him.

Virat said, "you are just being emotional right now"

"You are the captain now. I am sure you must be very happy as you got what you wanted right!", Mahi asked.

Virat responded, "Captaincy is an honour, but I never wanted it purposely"

Mahi stepped closer, "Ohh sure you did, the power and authority-- you had that greed right?"

Mahi so wanted him to respond or snap back.

"Yes I had! Happy to hear that, now leave me alone", Virat snapped.

"Happy to leave you alone, your presence has started to suffocate me!", Mahi said trying to control his tears and choked voice.

"Feelings are mutual MS", Virat said and left the room taking his sutff.

Once Virat left the room, all the walls of strong pretense broke. Mahi's legs gave up and he sat with support of the bed.

"Why Cheeku? Why are you doing this? You broke your Mahi bhai today! I never allowed anyone beneath my walls but you were the one! You were the one with whom I shared everything-- my friend, my little brother, my guide. But you broke me today", He said with tears in his eyes.
