warning, suicide
★ ! K- akashi wasn't necessarily hated by people of the village.he was always seen as the rude, strict, law abiding ninja that never let loose or had any friends.
however, there was one girl that was on his team everyone from a mile away could see he had a soft spot for.
it wasn't that he was in love with her. of course not. everyone knew he probably just held onto her because she was his only surviving teammate.
some even assumed he looked after the girl because her best friend asked him too.
but there was one thing about it-
y/n uchiha hated kakashi hatake.
kakashi hummed softly to himself while he read a book by jiraiya he had found in a bookstore. icha icha make out tactics.
he leaned against a tree before he heard footsteps a few feet away by the cliff behind said tree. intrigued on who was out in the woods at the middle of the night, he looked back to see his teammate; a soft, peaceful smile resting upon her face while she walked.
he smiled, expecting her to stop walking and take in the nature around her but, she was still walking.
kakashi's smile dropped. he threw his book, calling out to her & running towards the girl before she walked straight off the cliff.
her eyes were closed & when she opened them she saw kakashi holding onto one of her hands tightly.
"what the hell are you doing?" he scoffed, tightening his grip around her hand though she wasn't holding his back.
"killing myself. what else?" she scoffed back. it was pretty obvious.
"well, obviously!" he hissed, squinting his eyes in irritation. "but why? you have so many people that care about you."
"are you calling me selfish, hatake?" she mumbled, making eye contact with the irritated male who took a deep breath.
"fuck? no? y/n. i'm just saying, they're going to be the ones who grieve your death the hardest; itachi, kurenai, asuma, genma." he sighed softly, watching as her face didn't have any change in emotion. his hand was starting to slip out of hers which was causing him to panic internally.
his eyes started to tear up, which was very uncommon for the male. this slightly shocked her, seeing him so... vulnerable.
"they love you, y/n. fuck, i'll miss you. i love you." a small tear fell on her delicate face while her eyes widened in shock. the words even made her tear up a little.
in a way, she was being a little selfish.
her hand clasped around his as she reached up with her other hand to get his help to pull her up. he fell back in relief while she cried softly after collapsing on his chest.
he just stared up into the sky & noticing how all the stars twinkled. after a while, he noticed the girl had fallen asleep so he decided the only right thing to do was take her back home; he'd find his book later.
after a long walk, he made it to the forbidden uchiha compound. god, did it reek of hatred & sadness around here. he did, truly, hate the fact her clan was based on the negative- but there was nothing he could do about it.
he slowly walked through the compound, taking in his surroundings slowly. the clan did take pride in their symbol, that's for sure. he came to a house that he found vaguely familiar before stepping in.
no one lived there besides the girl in his arms. he remembered being a bitter, 13 year old, reluctantly being dragged to the house to find a bubbly y/n & obito doing god knows what & coming up with random excuses for their tardiness.
he frowned, remembering how deeply he despised both of them. was it really hatred though? maybe it was envy.
they both had happy families, good friends, and were both talented whether they had their sharingan or not.
he laid the girl down on her bed, covering her in a few blankets to make sure she stayed warm throughout the night since the house was cold.
before he took his exit, he took the time to analyze the team group photo on her desk. he remembered being so pissed she was assigned to his group because there was uneven amount of people.
he chuckled bitterly before taking his final leave to allow the girl rest.
the next day, he walked down the streets of the village on his way to the hokages office. not paying much attention, he bumped into someone.
"fucking hatake, watch where the fuck you're going!" the uchiha yelled.
"sorry." he nodded, being use to the harsh words thrown out from the angry girl.
"you should be! you're so irritating. you cant even sound a little genuine when you apologize?!" she hissed, anger boiling in her blood as kakashi casually stood & took whatever she yelled out. "you don't deserve that eye obito gave you. i will forever hate you."
kakashi nodded once again, making the girl scoff before walking away.
no matter how harsh her words got, he learned to always tough it out. he did promise obito, of course.
