★ ! S- omeone new would finally be joining
kakashi & y/n's squad. the two were finally old enough to have their own 3 man squad but unfortunately, the two kept failing everyone that came across them.
stupid bells.
"who's joining?" she asked kakashi. the silver haired male was a tad bit surprised she was asking him.
"an uchiha... itachi? i think is his name." he shrugged, making the girls eyes light up.
why didn't he tell her this? this was a huge accomplishment, he moved up the ranks so fast too.
"youngest to join i'm pretty sure, only 13. you know him?" he asked, making her nod before walking away. he sighed to himself, at least she did converse with him.
she saw the new member walking slowly towards where everyone else was- waiting for they could start their mission. she beamed at the taller male, giving him a hug before he yelped.
"okay, n/n..." he sighed, tapping her back awkwardly. he hated physical interactions.
"how's sasuke? it's been so long! you've grown up so much!" she beamed, looking at the black haired male who looked at her questionably.
"you saw me yesterday..." he mumbled, "sasuke misses you."
"i miss him." she frowned, thinking about the happy little boy that always runs up to her to hug her leg.
kakashi watched as she held small talk with the stoic male. he felt pretty envious whenever she talked to anyone; how could she do that but whenever it came to someone she'd known forever, she'd barely say two words to him?
the mission carried on successfully, causing y/n & itachi to walk home together. she really wanted to see sasuke.
"why don't you like anbu? it's pretty okay.." itachi mumbled, trying to get through the shorter girls mind.
"anbu sucks. it's super corrupt. i'm kinda disappointed you're here actually." she mumbled, "don't get me wrong, you're a really good shinobi, i just don't want you to fall into the wrong side."
"i understand." he nodded, seeing shisui wave him over.
"do you mind if i steal itachi really quick?" he asked y/n. shisui had gotten pretty popular; known as 'shisui the body flicker.'
"yes, shisui, i do mind." y/n playfully hummed, making the male pout and beg the older girl. "fine. be safe, and don't do anything stupid." she pointed at the two who nodded.
"yes ma'am!" shisui responded, leaving y/n to take her walk by herself. before going home, she stopped by itachi's house; holding conversation with sasuke.

a few months passed, the girl had just gotten home from a long outdrawn mission she was sent on with kakashi. she hated every second of it.
she was just ready to sleep.
unfortunately, when she got home her whole clan was killed- deceased. she ran around the compound like an idiot; her sharingan activated until she came across the killer.
her eyes squinted as she refused to believe the sight in front of her. itachi uchiha, covered in blood along with a bloody katana in his hand.
he swallowed thickly before putting down his katana. his inner debate was on if he'd kill her or not. he'd be doing her a favor right? she'd lost her best friend, her mother & sensei.
but, who better than to look after his little brother than her?
"n/n." he mumbled, watching as she slowly walked towards him. "please, i have one favor to ask of you."
his eyes had the same design as hers when she'd killed rin. did he kill shisui? this felt like an odd feeling of deja vu.
"you don't have to do this, ita." she mumbled, stopping in front of the male who shook his head softly.
the damage had already been done.
"please, take care of sasuke. won't you?" he asked, softly poking her head with his fingers once she nodded.
"thank you. so much."
& with that he disappeared, leaving the girl to run around trying to find the small 7 year old boy. she finally ended up finding him, passed out on a road which made her panic.
she picked him up, running towards the closest hospital for help.
"please! our entire clan was killed & he's unconscious!" she was panicking. she just wished this was a bad dream she'd wake up from.
a nurse helped her by taking sasuke from her arms & then taking her to a room so she could get examined herself.
everything was okay & sasuke was sleep in the room next to her. she asked if the two could be put in a room together so she could keep an eye on him, but the kind nurse explained she needed rest herself.
which didn't help much since she stayed up all night anyway. all she could wonder was why itachi would do such a thing?
it was so obvious he was set up to do it. but one question lingered forever in the back of her mind. a question that truly haunted her.
