★ ! L- ike always, the first one to visit herwas kakashi. he'd recently went to her house when he hadn't seen her for a while, seeing that the entire compound was dark & everyone was dead. he didn't want to jump to conclusions, so his first thought was to check the hospital- which is where he found her.
she was sleeping peacefully while he sat beside her bed reading his books. every since she gave him the first one, he started reading the series. he even bought another copy of the one she bought to make sure nothing happened to the original.
she slowly blinked awake, seeing the masked male in a chair beside her bed which made her scoff quietly.
"good morning, how're you feeling?" he softly asked, watching as she turned over to her side so he'd be talking to her back.
"how do you think i feel, kakashi?" she mumbled, starting to stand so she could go to the room next to her.
"if you're going to check on him, he's fine. you need rest." kakashi hummed, watching as she shrugged and got up anyway. she wouldn't believe it until she saw it.
she bumped into asuma who was bringing her flowers when she left kakashi alone in her room.
"huh? shouldn't you be resting?" he scoffed, handing the girl the flowers in his hand while she shrugged.
"going to check on the kid. it bothers me i can't see him 24/7."
"because you need to rest." asuma sighed, watching as the girl waved him off and opened the door beside hers.
sasuke sat up in his bed, staring off at the wall in front of him. she sighed, sitting down on the chair beside his bed and changing out the flowers in the vase.
"how're you feeling?" she asked, making the small male shrug. "we get discharged today, we can go home." she smiled softly, trying to brighten the mood but the kid wasn't really having it.
"home?" he asked, blinking at her while she nodded.
"well... not our usual home but a new home." she smiled, making sasuke frown a little more before nodding. she sighed, standing to go back to her room to get dressed but only to see kakashi & asuma still holding conversation.
"why're you still here?" she scoffed, looking kakashi's way while he shrugged.
"i didn't know you get discharged today." he added, making her shrug.
"it was none of your business. we're not friends, hatake." she spat, making asuma a little confused on how she could be so mean. seeing it in person was a whole lost different than just hearing their other friends talk about their interactions.
"well, after you're discharged come get ramen with me, kurenai, and genma. yeah?" asuma asked, standing while the girl softly shook her head.
"gotta take care of sasuke. i'm not sure he'll want to interact with a bunch of jonin's he doesn't know." she chuckled, rubbing the nape of her neck sheepishly. "and you, leave."
she looked over at kakashi who was still sitting in the chair.
"hm? you don't enjoy my company?" he playfully asked, making her jaw tick repeatedly. "okay, okay. i'm leaving."
kakashi sighed as he left the room with asuma. he could only assume, now that she had to take care of a 7 year old kid, she'd take time off from the anbu- which means no pay beside the allowance the hokage would give her.
he'd do something about that though.
for the next year or so anytime kakashi got paid from missions, he'd split the money and leave most on her doorstep; sometimes adding her favorite ramen to go with.she'd question who was doing such a nice thing, even asked her usual friends but they all denied doing it.
she sighed, visiting the graveyard to talk to obito & rin. she hadn't done so in a while since she was so caught up on having enough money to care for her & sasuke but she had time before she picked the boy up from academy.
"visiting?" she heard an all to familiar voice behind her.
"what do you want from me?" she hissed, watching as he sat flowers done on the two graves.
"haven't seen you in a while."
"i have a kid to care for, of course you haven't kakashi." she sighed, standing from her spot & ready to leave. but before she did, she turned to the silver haired male. "are you the one leaving money on my doorstep?"
"hm? of course not." he lied, blinking at the girl who rose an eyebrow before nodding and starting to walk.
"y'know, you don't have to do that." she whispered, leaving kakashi alone with the graves.
he couldn't tell if her cold wall was starting to fall, but he really hoped it was.
she picked sasuke up from academy, asking how his day was like always. he replied in short sentences, until she asked what they did.
"i got in a fight with some blonde idiot." sasuke scoffed, "he's really annoying."
"what's his name?" y/n asked. the two sat, waiting for ramen at iruka's shop before sasuke scoffed again.
"naruto." he mumbled, "has no friends."
"well, why don't you be his friend?" she asked, pinching his cheeks. "you have no friends too, y'know."
"yeah, but he's annoying. i don't wanna be his friend." sasuke pouted, making y/n chuckle lightly.
she knew naruto. she knew he was kushina & minato's kid. he'd usually sit at iruka's shop by himself & sometimes she bought him ramen. they'd hold conversation & the little boy seemed like a joy to have around.
"and you can't get into fights outside of sparring. you wanna stay in the academy and become a good shinobi right?"
"no. i just wanna get stronger." sasuke replied, thanking iruka for the food like y/n taught him too. "you know how you feel about that white haired dude?"
"ugh, don't mention him." y/n scoffed, rolling her eyes.
"that's how i feel about naruto." sasuke huffed, eating his food slowly.
she frowned at his words. maybe if she was nicer to kakashi, sasuke would start being nicer to naruto.
but why would she be nice to kakashi?
she rolled her eyes at the thought; like that'd ever happen.
