! S- asuke & kakashi stood on a tree branch.

kakashi could tell that his efforts weren't working. he seriously didn't want to see y/n as hurt as she was when itachi left, but it seemed he was going to in the end.

"don't do this, sasuke." kakashi sighed, "think rationally. let it go & forget about revenge." he held the wire that kept sasuke on the tree a little tighter.

sasuke scoffed. what was this man talking about revenge? how would he know what he's been through?

"for those who choose revenge, it never ends well. you'll only tear yourself apart. & when you succeed & get your revenge, what will you have then? nothing. emptiness."

"shut up! what makes you think you know anything about it?!" sasuke yelled, looking up at the older male. "it's easy for you to talk, you know nothing about it!"

"easy, calm down." kakashi sighed, looking at the boy who was slowly getting more and more enraged.

"maybe if i was to kill all the important people in your life, the people who's ever meant anything, maybe then i'd listen to you. because maybe then you'd feel what i feel." sasuke hissed.

little did the boy know, the only important person in his life as of right now was his mother.

everyone else had died. all of his family, the people he called friends, the ones he looked up too.

of course, he still had people like asuma & kurenai, even genma. but they could never compare to the interactions and trust building he had made with the people he loved most.

even if he was a total dick to all of them. he knew he still had one person he could make that up too.

"i'm afraid you're a little late to put it to the test. everyone you're talking about has already been killed." kakashi smiled; the boy's face contorting into shock. "you're not the only one who knows what it's like to lose somebody.."

sasuke stayed silent. kakashi had sighed once more, knowing no matter what he said would probably fall upon deaf ears.

"your mother has seen her fair share of troubles as well. don't you think you should give her a break?" he asked, titling his head.

sasuke's head fell downward. kakashi was right. no matter how embarrassing she was, sasuke did still love her.

"anyway, i do know how you feel. but you can get through this." kakashi sighed, releasing the wire before turning to leave sasuke alone with his thoughts.

"one more thing," kakashi turned around to look at the boy. "don't pick hatred over love."

kakashi knew it wouldn't make much of a difference, though he really hoped sasuke wouldn't make the same mistake he did.
