"here it goes." Cameron starts, "i left without saying goodbye because i thought it wouldn't hurt as much. looks like i was wrong. you know how i was drug dealing for a long time, before i met you? it caught up with me and i needed to take care of some stuff. my old friends started trying to convince me to get back into drug dealing. i couldn't and didn't want to because of you. then they started to threaten me so i had to go over there and set them straight. i love you Charlotte. i really do. it took me a while to get things back to the way it should be, and now it is. i didn't want to contact you because they would threaten me with you. threaten to kill you so i go join back in."
"Cameron, things have changed since you left. i know you mean well, but i can't. can we just be friends?"
"but i want to be more than that with you. remember our plans for the future?"
"thats all in the past now. i'm sorry Cameron."
"Charlotte, please think about it."
by this point, i was yelling. "i have a boyfriend. Shawn's been there when you weren't. i don't know if i want to be yours Cameron. you might leave again without telling me. i can only handle so much, and i'm only in high school."
"babe, calm down. i'm sorry. i really-" and i interrupt him. "i am not your babe anymore. as far as i am concerned, we are friends. just friends."
i stand up and a tear escapes my eye. flashbacks flood my head and i start to feel dizzy. all those sleepless nights, thinking my boyfriend, well, ex, could be dead. i collapse and last thing i see is Cameron kneeling next to me holding my head up.
"it will be okay. i promise." i hear him say.
