Chapter 52
~Jerome~
I've said it before and I would gladly say it again at least one hundred times, Nolan Prince was the most amazing and beautiful person on the planet. He could literally be doing anything simple, like just watching videos on his phone, and I would look at him and think, "Wow, he's so beautiful."
And now, seeing him dressed up in his prom outfit, it was evident that he truly was the most beautiful person on the planet. He was wearing a black tuxedo but to make sure he wasn't just wearing that shade, and because yellow was his favourite colour, he had on a yellow tuxedo vest.
My outfit was identical apart from my vest colour being purple instead of yellow. We switched ties, so mine was yellow and his was purple.
Poppy couldn't stop gushing over how adorable the triplets and their dates were and just had to take dozens of pictures. Eventually, Orchid sighed. "Mom, I think you've taken enough pictures. We're going to be very late at this rate."
"I can't help it," Poppy said as she wiped a tear away from her eyes.
"Are you crying?" Alan asked.
"Yes, I'm crying," Poppy said. "Prom means that you're one step closer to graduation, which means that soon my babies will be off to university."
"Mom, we're all going to the same university," Orchid said. "You know, the local one. We're still going to be living here."
"Still," Poppy said. "People might think high school is easy, but I know it's not. I'm proud of you three for being so close to finishing it."
"Especially Alan," Brandon said. "He told me that he's failing English."
"No," Alan said. "I told you that I would fail English if my teacher didn't say she was going to pass me simply because she doesn't want to teach me anymore."
"She's literally the fourth teacher to tell you that. I think that's a problem."
Alan shrugged. "Either way, I'm passing. I'm not complaining. I don't think my parents are complaining either."
"We're not, but you do realize you won't be able to get away with that in university, right?" Grayson said. "Some professors might be nice enough to pass you if you're just on the line, but probably not because they don't want to teach you again."
Alan sighed. "Yeah, I know."
Poppy took yet another picture of the six of us even though we weren't posing or anything, which causes Orchid to sigh again. "Mom, come on. You don't have to take anymore pictures."
"Yes, she does," I said. "Look how cute Nolan looks." I pinched Nolan's cheeks. "He's so adorable. He needs hundreds of pictures." Nolan shooed my hands away. "I'm going to hang them all up on a wall dedicated for him."
"Creep," Brandon said. If I wasn't in front of my parents-in-law, I would have flipped Brandon off, but I just chose to stick my tongue out at him instead. Honestly, Poppy and Grayson probably wouldn't care since the younger ones weren't paying attention, but I still would have felt weird.
Orchid finally realized that she didn't need permission from her parents to leave, so she just grabbed Atticus's hand and led him to the door, saying, "I'll text you when I'm on my way home."
"Your curfew is six in the morning," Grayson said.
"Grayson!" Poppy said. "That's not true." She looked at us. "We would prefer you to be home around midnight, but as long as you text us then to let us know you're okay, we can extend it to one. No later."
