Chapter 27
~Nolan~
It was hard for me to stay focused at school today. Not for the regular reasons like I was feeling unwell or Joel was being a jerk, but because I was so distracted looking at the classroom window.
We finally reached the time of year I was most excited for; the snowy weather. I absolutely loved the snow. Even though I didn't go outside often, I found it such a beautiful and pure sight. I would spend time just sitting by the window, looking at the scenery.
I was so happy when school finally let out for the weekend. I was able to finally get home and relax. I might even convinced Jerome to go outside with me and build a snowman.
I would just have to be careful not to build a snowman where Alan could find it, because he would always end up tackling it. Luckily, he only tackled snowmen made my his family members. It would be very cruel if he ended up making little kids cry.
I was at my locker when the one person I didn't want to talk to decided to walk up to me. I guess the few weeks of leaving me alone wasn't enough to keep doing so. "Nolan?" Joel asked. "Can we talk?"
"No," I said. "I've told you again and again that I really don't walk to talk to you." I had everything in backpack, so I closed my locker. I turned to look at Joel. "How do you think you can treat my boyfriend poorly and I'll be okay to talk to you?"
Joel sighed. "I didn't know you were there."
"Right. And what did you expect? That Jerome wouldn't tell me that you called him a criminal? Or that he would tell me and I wouldn't believe him? Nothing you say or do is going to change my and Jerome's relationship so would you please just... Just give it up."
I left without letting Joel say anything else. I didn't want to deal with him anymore, but he seemed very relentless. The only thing I could do was wait until I graduate and hope that I never see him again.
As soon as I walked out of the front doors of the school, I scanned the parking lot for Jerome. Whenever he got here early, he would wait outside of the car to get some fresh air. Unless it was raining, but it was just snowing lightly right now.
I walked over to him, being careful not to slip because even though I was a dancer, I had horrible balance. I tripped and slipped all the time.
When I got to Jerome, I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him down for a kiss. He kissed me back for a bit before pulling away, giving me a smile. "Hi there," he said. "This is probably the main reason why I pick you up from school whenever I can."
"Because I kiss you every time?"
"Exactly." Jerome ruffled my hair. "And because I get to see the cutest person to ever exist. Speaking of cute things..." Jerome walked over to the driver's seat and opened the door.
I furrowed my eyebrows. "You gonna finish that sentence or...?"
"Just get into the car," Jerome said. "Trust me."
I walked over to the passenger's side and got into the car. The moment that I sat down, Daisy suddenly jumped on my lap from the backseat and starting kissing my face. I giggled as I tried getting my dog to stop, but she was very happy to see me.
Jerome got into the driver's seat and closed the door. "See? She got out of her class early today, so I picked her up and came straight here."
"Mmm... Sounds fake."
"Huh?"
"You came straight here?"
"Fine, I came gay here. Geez." Jerome reached over and pet Daisy, who was now sitting comfortably on my lap. "She's almost done with her training at the school. Then we'll have to start taking her to places to train her in public."
I smiled as I scratched Daisy behind the ears. "I can't wait for that. Did she like the snow when you were taking her to your car?"
"She did, actually," Jerome said as he started up his car before pulling out of the parking lot. "She started bouncing around in the snow and it took a long time to get her in the car. I had to put her favourite treat on the backseat to get her in there."
"We might have to stay outside for a bit to let her play in the snow," I said.
That was exactly what Jerome and I did when we got home. Daisy was too excited to get into the house, so I had to let Daisy run around in the back for a bit. She had a lot of fun running in circles, trying to bite snowflakes, dig in the snow, and even roll around in the snow.
It took her a long time to get her to come inside, but she was fine once she was inside. Mainly because I gave her a treat. As soon as she got it, she walked over to couch and began eating her treat.
I curled up on the couch beside Daisy, using her as a pillow because I was too lazy to get one. She didn't mine. In fact, sometimes when I was lying down on the couch, she would push her way under my head to be my pillow. I was so happy I decided to get her. And that my parents had no problem with me getting her.
Jerome walked over to where I was lying down and grabbed one of the blankets, putting it on top of me. "You know you can always nap on your bed, right?" he asked.
"I would, but it's so far," I said. "I have to walk all the way upstairs. Do you know how tiring that is?"
"Considering I also have my bed upstairs, yes, I do," Jerome said. He leaned down and ruffled my hair. "You're still cute, though."
"I try."
