Jack paid Kimberly a visit on a Saturday afternoon. He has a knack for designing and advertising, so he went through her work on his laptop.
“Alright, with what I can see here. I think your employees are doing a great job, especially the new marketing manager, Miss Zoey. She’s someone you can rely on. Profit over tax was the same thing I calculated. I don’t see any issues here at all.”
“Okay.” Kimberly answered with a relaxed smile, knowing everything would be fine. “Zoey is actually a young lady. She just graduated from Harvard last year.”
It’s been 10 months now since Denim left her. She had Jack had been a little close since he moved on from Rose’s heartbreak and he’s been helping her with the cloth-line business.
“Oh, really?”
“Yes.”
“That’s pretty cool.” he smirked. “I mean, this is her first six months of handling the clothing line.”
“It’s okay if you stay and help me supervise the business.” Kimberly inquired. “I know you are a very busy person, but the longer you stay, the better.”
“No, Kim. You can do this yourself.” Jack pointed out while she watched him with a smile of pride. “You already have reliable workers, which means there’s an increased output. All I’ll advise is, get yo know your customers more and create one or two accounts, then you’re ready.”
Kimberly just nodded, but she loved him being around. She’d almost closed the clothing business in the first two months of Denim’s disappearance. Until Jack advised her to move on. He supported her a lot in the business.
“Maybe you should work with me. Let’s be business partners.”Kim suggested. She knew with his zeal and ideas, the clothing business would soar to another level. “You’re better at this work than me.”
“No, no, no... “Jack nodded negatively. Realizing how kind she was. “I can’t do that. It would be a pleasure to, but I can’t. I might assign someone to work for you.”
Kimberly rolled her eyes and nodded as if asking why he won’t.
“I’ll just help you coach the staffs and check in once in a while. You know that’s the way I can be if help to you.”
Rose agreed and pulled out of the sofa. “Okay, I’ll think about that.”
“No problem.” he assured her. Turned off his laptop and closed it. “I’ll be on my way.”
“Okay, um... Give me a second. I want you to drop me at the quick Lube. I need to get my car from the mechanics today. Let me get my bag.” She explained.
“Okay.” Jack replied her and waited while Kimberly rushed upstairs to grab her handbag.
Waiting for her, Jack placed his laptop into a laptop sleeve, vividly checking his wristwatch as if he had an appointment somewhere else.
In no time, Kimberly climbed downstairs with a black bag at hand.
“Okay.” Jack stood up once she walked up to him.
“Thank you.” She smiled, and they stepped to the door.
Kimberly pulled out the doorknob, and she stared in total shock at who stood before her. It was Denim and Rose, looking wretched from what they’ve been through.
Kimberly stepped back in as her heart stopped. The door creaked open to Jack’s gaze, and he couldn’t believe his eyes. His Jaws dropped to the both of them.
Denim entered first, leading Rose in, and closed the door behind them. Rose's face tightened in grief, close to tears from seeing those she had betrayed. Denim’s eyes pleaded for forgiveness even before his lips and Jack frowned, puzzled that they would even came back.
