Chapter Thirty-One

I let the doctor check me and my nerves and muscles to make sure everything was working. Victoria tried to tell me what happened, but left out a lot of details.

"Show me" I demand and her and Kelley look at each other. "What?" They ask confused.

"Show me the video" I repeat. Victoria gulps knowing she shouldn't fight me, so she pulled her phone out and found the video.

She turned down the sound and I took it from her and turned the sound up.

I saw myself crashing. Max and Lando running out on the track to get to me. Lando and Max prying the doors open. Max being pulled away. Lando crawling in to get me.

I hear Lando's sobs in my head and in the video and I feel tears roll. His screams make me close my eyes in horror and I open them to see him being pulled out with bloody hands.

I see the rally drivers creating the circle of respect of privacy. I then see in the corner of the video, Max pulling Jos out of his car and beating him. Then I see Victoria pull him off.

Then them running to the car as they pull me out. I see my dangling body and I gulp. They take off my helmet and throw it, but I can't see my face. Luckily.

A helicopter arrives and panic rises in the crowd. Everyone is running and screaming in horror.

I'm brought into the helicopter and Max push Lando into the helicopter and the video ends.

I close the phone and Kelley and Victoria wait to say anything until I show a reaction. "Did he get him good?" I ask, Victoria breathes out in relief and a small smile lifts.

"A broken nose and jaw" Victoria says and I nod. "He's going to jail. I'm releasing everything" I say and Victoria nods.

"He's already in jail, but if you want to go forward with the rest, Max and I will join you" Victoria says and I nod.

Kelley and Victoria fill me in on the events of the last few days, how all the twenty drivers showed up in my hospital room in Greece.

Kelley's phone ring and Victoria brings me into a hug. I exhale a breath I didn't know I was holding, when I felt my body relax in my sisters arms.

"Yes, it's true. She's awake" Kelley says with such happiness and she smiles at us.

"Come and see for yourself" Kelley says and hang up.

"They're on their way" Kelley says and put her hands in front of her heart with fresh tears in her eyes.

"Where is P?" I ask and Kelley smiles. "Sophie is watching her. She will bring her here in an hour" Kelley says and I nod. "How is mom doing?" I ask Victoria.

"She's coping. She will be pleased to see you when she arrives" Victoria says and squeeze my hand.

"I kinda feel sore in that hand" I notice and raise an eyebrow. "Honey, Lando didn't want to let go of you. Literally. He held your hand for five days" Kelley says and I tear up.

"Really?" I ask softly and they nod with a smile. "He didn't give up on me?"

"No, honey. He didn't even think about it once" Victoria said and I sob.

I hear running outside and the door bursts open. I see Lando in his suit still, helmet in his hand and Max behind him.

Lando freezes at the sight of my eyes starring back at him. Max sees and runs up to me and pull me into a hug. "You smell" I groan as a mix of sweat, burned tires and champagne fill my senses.

"Max..." Kelley says and pull him back slightly. Max realizes and step back so Lando could get his hug.

Lando walks up out of breath and drops his helmet on the floor. I smile at him and cry as he takes a minute to register that it's real.

Lando pull me into a hug and I sob in his chest. Lando kiss the top of my head and I hold onto him.

Kelley and Victoria pull Max out of the room to give us some privacy. Lando pull away slightly and take his gloves off and touch my warm skin.

"Are you fine? Is everything fine? You remember us? You can move? Nothing's—""—Lando. I'm all fine" I interrupt as he starts rambling. A smile starts to creep up on his face.

"Can I kiss you?" Lando asks worried as he was about to lean in. I chuckle at him. "I'll be mad if you don't" I say and Lando crash his lips to mine.

I cup his cheeks in my hands and smile in the kiss.

"Lando, I love you" I say as we pull away. Lando looks at me surprised but kiss me in happiness. "I love you" Lando say back and I smile.

"I was afraid I wouldn't get the chance to tell you" I admit and he shush me and kiss me again. I let him take in the fact that i'm awake and well.

"Fuck" Lando curses as he realises how fucked up the situation had ended.

"I'm told you woke up when I crossed the finishing line" Lando smirks playfully.

"Hmm, Must've been Max. He finished P1" I tease and Lando's face falls.

"I'm kidding. Congratulations by the way. You did amazing" I say and pull him into another kiss.

"Get in with me" I say and attempt to scoot over only groan loudly in pain as I tried to lift myself. My back was not coporating with me.

"Woah, relax. Don't hurt yourself" Lando said and stood up from the side of the bed and the others came in alert of having heard my groan.

"What happened?" Max asks.

"She tried to move" Lando says and take my hand. The same I was told he had not let go of for five days.
