Five years later

"Harlow! Stay near the shore." Elliot shouts from the porch, his blonde hair waves in the salty wind as his small body stands in the ocean. He turns around giving her a little giggle, before running closer to the shore.

"Maggie needs to be changed." Finnick speaks as he walks up to where Elliot sits on the porch, Elliot just nods as Finnick walks past her inside the home. She smiles as she hears Harlow thump up the stairs, he's very active for a three year old.

"Momma" he runs up to her, taking a hold of her thighs as he stares up at her, she hums softly at him as she helps him crawl into her lap. His freckles have gotten more distinctive since he's started swimming more with Finnick.

Finnick comes back out a few minutes later, Elliot still sits in the swing, rocking with Harlow peacefully as he rests on his chest. He's tired from all the swimming.

Elliot continues to rock the swing softly with the small boy in his arms, "When are Katniss and Peeta coming back to visit?" Finnick asks.

"What?" Finnick raises an eyebrow at her, "Missing them already?" It's true, Peeta and Katniss were here a couple of weeks ago. It was good for the kids to have friends the same age as them. Since Harlow was close in age as their oldest, they played along perfectly.

Finnick was closer with Katniss than Peeta but he had the same relationship with Katniss as Elliot does with Peeta. It was nice to see them ever so often. Finnick and Elliot lived a simple life, but it sometimes got lonely, but Harlow was to go to school soon, and since District 4 has slowly been putting itself together it has teachers and students.

Harlow was excited to go to school, to meet people, but of course his best friend lived in District 12 so that spot would never be filled by anyone else. Harlow was in his blue and white striped dungarees, it was his favorite, his hair fell to his shoulders but that's the way he liked it.

Maggie, however, was one, she was definitely a daddy's girl but loved to rest on Elliot's hip as she helped Finnick cook. Harlow loved to sit on the counter and help his dad wash the fruit that they'd picked from the garden earlier. Harlow was the most momma's boy you'd have ever seen, but he loved playing in the water with his father. But playing with building blocks with Elliot was his favorite pastime.

Finnick loved having kids, he was the most excited when he found out Elliot was pregnant (except for maybe Tiana). But when Finnick knew that their child was gonna be a boy he was the one to suggest the name Harlow and of course Elliot put up no fight in the name choice.

The kids knew about The Games, but they heard the short version, the happy one, they didn't know that their parents had been forced to kill people but they did know that that's how their parents met, they both played in The Games.

Harlow had assumed it was like one of the games he'd play with his friends, he didn't know the truth, and neither Elliot or Finnick wanted him to. It was a cruel world, the past. But it was behind them. And they were glad for it.

Harlow always seemed to have a burst of energy after laying with his mom, he slowly sat up, "Water?" he asked Elliot.

"Of course, baby." She smiled as she sat up with Harlow in her arms, walking through the open door. She sat Harlow up on the counter as she reached to get one of his cups, she filled it up with water from the faucet and handed it to him.

He grabbed it with his small hands, lifting it up to his mouth as hurriedly gulping it down as if he hadn't had a drink in years. "Slow your roll, Bug." she grabbed the cup from his hands as set it down on the counter. "You're gonna choke."

"Choking on water is called drowning." Finnick spoke as he walked up from behind her with Maggie in his arms.

"Mhm, mister know-it-all." she rolled her eyes, Harlow made grabby hands at the cup from the counter, he gave Elliot a small pout but as she grabbed the cup once again his pout turned into a bright smile that reminded her of the man from behind her, the way they look similar is uncanny, even if he was his father they could be twins.

"Why don't you go get some peppers and tomatoes from the garden with your dad while I start dinner." Harlow nodded as Finnick put Maggie in Elliot's arms so he could let Harlow down for the counter.

Elliot watches as Finnick and Harlow walk out of the house and down to the garden. She puts Maggie in her high chair and she goes to wash her hands, getting ready to start dinner.

After they left the Capitol Elliot found hobbies and different things that made her happy. Of course her favorite one had to be surfing with Finnick but she loved cooking or baking. Finnick and her had tried many things, just trying to adjust to having a normal life, but it was hard for the first couple of months to wrap their heads around having to live away from the violence of The Games. It was different, happy even.

They were happy now and they loved their simple life, they didn't have to work but they had a garden that they tended to as a family, they were also in the process of teaching Harlow how to swim, he loved it just like his parents did.

At the end of the day Elliot and Finnick were happy to have fought in a war for this, and they'd do it again and again.

The End

And that's a wrap! I hope you all enjoyed Ambivalence and Elliot and Finnick's story! It's so sad for me to be finished with them both but it makes me so happy to see that they finally got their happy ending!
