chapter 16

Tristan's pov

Joe brings over the box with the prospetic in and places on the table 'this is from tris and me, hope it helps' he says

Eliza carefully opens the lid of the box, 'no way' she says 'really' 'yes' we say 'we hope you will find it helps' I say 'can I try it?' She asks 'of course hun' Joe says.

We move the table so Eliza has room to put it on. Once it's on we help her to stand up, 'how does it feel?' I ask 'good' thanks she says kissing my cheek.

Once stood up we stand either side of her and we walk round the room for a bit. 'Thank you, both of you.' She says 'it's okay hun' Joe says.

We sit back down to open more presents, we had got her some books, colouring books with pencils, some craft kits. Aswell as some other things she can enjoy whilst resting including CHOCOLATE. Els love chocolate.

'Els this is from me' I say passing her a small box. She opens the box, inside was a heart shaped locket, 'wow, thanks tris' she says 'that's okay love, if you open it's say. She opens it to see two pictures. 'Inside you have a pictures of your dad and me, so we are always with you' I say. I place the locket on Eliza

We spent the rest of the morning chilling watching films, when there was a knock at the door, 'I'll get it' Joe says.

He walks back into the room with Riles, brad, James and con. 'Happy birthday Eliza' they say 'thank you' she says. 'Tris' she whisper 'yes love' i whisper back 'can you help me up' she ask 'sure' I stand up before helping Els.

We walk towards the others 'hi' she says hugging them all 'look' she says rolling up her trouser leg showing the prospetic 'that is amazing, how does it feel' Riles ask, 'it feels good.' She says smiling

We all head back to the living area, 'this is for you Eliza' Riles says handing her a gift bag, and an envelope, riles told her to open the envelope first, 'driving lessons?' She said 'yes, I wanted to give you the opportunity, plus the army trainers said they would provide the training when you were the right age, but I insisted I helped contribute towards it as your like a daughter to me'  Riles says, 'thank you Riles' Eliza says 'i am grateful for all you have done for me growing up and helping get to know dad' she says hugging him 'that's alright pet'

Inside the bag was some clothes and some treats. 'Eliza these are for you' James says handing her gift bags 'let me explain, each one of these are from every birthdays from the first time we met,' 'thank you james' she says smiling.

She opened the more presents until she reached the last one 'this is from us all' I say 'wow, thanks guys' she says 'so many memories.' She says 'this is really  us dad' she says pointing to a picture of her and joe when she was a baby 'yes els, if you look here it's when we went to the zoo with Riles feeding the Elephants' Joe replies.  ' I will enjoy looking at this all the time. Thank you' she says

I look to see els yawning 'you tired els' I ask 'mmh just need a nap' she replies 'okay' I say 'I'm just taking els to our room so she can rest for a bit'i says. 'That's okay' everyone says.

I carefully pick her up I can tell she's falling asleep, once in our room I lay her down 'leg on or off' I ask 'off please tris.' She says softly 'there we go' I say placing the leg by the chair 'tris' she says 'yes els' I reply 'I hope they don't think I'm being rude' she says 'of course not love, you have had a busy day, rest and we can get you when teas ready if you want, plus the bells here if you need anything.' I say kissing her forehead. I lift the rail up and quietly walk out of the room, back to join the others. We all sit and chat whilst els is resting

~5.30pm~

I hear Elizas bell ring so I go into our room to see her 'how are you feeling love' I ask, 'rested and hungry' she says, I lower the Rail and I pass her, her leg so she can put it on. 'Tris' she asks 'can you carry me please' 'of course I can' I reply picking her up, we head out of the room to join the others, we sit down on the sofa 'so Els what do you fancy' Joe asks 'pizza' she replies.

We order the pizza and it doesn't take long to arrive, we all enjoy the food. After we had finished the boys and riles said their goodbyes.  Joe and I walk them out, we returned to see Eliza falling asleep on the sofa.

I carefully pick her up and we all head back to our room, as I sit her on the bed to get her ready she starts to stir, 'Hey' she says sleepy 'heya hun' I say 'I'm just getting you ready for bed, is that okay' I say she nods her head.

Once she was ready Joe and I got her into bed and sat either side of her 'thank you for today' she said, 'that's alright Els, did you enjoy it' Joe asks. 'I did dad, thanks. And thank you, both of you for your gifts' she says 'that's okay we are happy you liked them' I say.

We looked down to see Eliza falling asleep 'goodnight els' we both say kissing her forehead 'night tris' Joe says 'night joe' I say, Joe lifts the bed rail up before leaving the room, it didn't take long for me to fall asleep too.
