Protection

chapter 47

I have been back in training for the final 5 months. It has been going well I already know I'm going to miss tour, I enjoyed spending time with Tris and Dad over Christmas. James, Brad and Con came over for new years.

I was in my room playing my guitar when there was a knock on my door. 'Come in' I say. The door opened and Riles and the Sargent came in. 'How can I help' I ask. 'I've had a chat with Riles.' He started, part of me thinks this is bad news, 'don't worry its not bad news' Riles says, how can he tell 'as you have done so well with your training you can finished two weeks early.' Sarg says, 'really?' I ask i am still confused. 'Yes, you have done us both proud' Riles says, 'ill be in touch with Riles when it is time' sarg says 'so it will be like last time?' I ask. 'Yes' sarg says.  'I'll let you get on with your day and will see you later' sarg says before leaving the room.

Riles sits down next to me on my bed 'how are you feeling about all this?' He asks me, 'okay, I think. I know that when I finish Tris will be on tour, so I would like to suprise him and the others on the final show. I'll have to let dad know, though. I just don't want tris to know I've finished early' I say.  'That's okay Eliza, you can stay with me at my place' riles says, 'you sure?' I ask 'yes i am, you are always welcome, plus I finish the same time as you like we always do' he says 'thank Ri Ri' I say smiling 'that's okay pet' Riles says hugging me.

'So what do you have planned?' Riles ask me. 'Well I want to suprise them by playing wild heart. Starting at the back of the arena making my way to stage, where Tris would be sat on a stool. I will have to let dad know, so we can get the lads out so I can have a run through with the tec crew. I'm not even telling their family as I know they will all be at the final shoe so I will go up and suprise them, I need to ask sarg something too, I want to ask his permission to wear my army uniform whilst performing.' I say.

'That's sound amazing. Tell you what, when we finish, we head to mine. I will send Joe a text to say I'm back but you had to stay for a little longer. When he comes you could be sat in my garden playing your guitar facing away from the house, I'll lead him into the room, the doors to the garden will be open and I will say 'rainbow, there's someone I would like you to meet,' which is when you head inside' Riles says 'that sounds like a plan' I says smiling.

We sit and chat till it is time for tea, we go to Sit on our usual table with sarg, 'sarg can I ask you something later?' I ask. 'Of course Eliza, we can head to my room after tea.' He replies

After tea we walk back to his room, we sit on his sofa, 'how can I help Eliza?' He asks 'well, when I finish it's the week of tris' band tour, and I would like to suprise him on the last show by playing wild heart. But I would like your permission to wear my army uniform' I ask, 'of course you can Eliza, make us all proud.' He says smiling  'So how did you and tris meet?' He asks

'Well' I started. 'My dad Joe, and Riles were childhood friends, so Riles helped my dad look after me growing up as he was a single parent, so I always knew Riles. As you know I was taken into the protection centre when I was 2 years old and riles looked after me, this was due to dad's work, once I got older I trained aswell, but from the age of 12 I went to live with my first family which gave me the opportunity to experience having a family. They had a son called James, he was so nice, I went up to my room to talk you Riles, he over heard me saying 'it's hard keeping it a secret' when James questioned it, I knew I had to leave so I ran into town to the police station and said the code, not knowing that he had followed me. I then went back to the protection centre for a year carrying on with training until I went to a new family.'

'This family had a son called brad, one day he showed me a photo of someone who was coming and it was James. I hid a bag out the front in a Bush just in case. Brad led James into the garden where I was, he said my old name which then brad began to question, then James showed a picture of me when I was with him, and questioned me again  so I ran to the police station.' I say taking a breather.
