"This is ridiculous," I chuckled. I pulled myself up the ledge, my arms beginning to shake from straining. My green haired partner leaned over the edge of the roof, his hands reaching to grab my arms and haul me up beside him.
"C'mon, you gotta trust me on this," Edric smiled mischievously. I sighed with a flick to his forehead. He let out a short laugh before guiding me to stand carefully. Slightly nervous, I cautiously peered over the side of the house to see the darkened ground several stories below. My hands reached out to squeeze Edric's arm comfortingly.
"Aww, poor scaredy cat," he teased. My foot harshly stomped down on his foot making him wince. A soft hiss slid past his lips at the pain but I didn't feel very guilty.
"Aww, poor scaredy cat," I mocked back. He rolled his eyes before pulling me towards the middle of the roof where a blanket lay. My heart fluttered at the sight of a basket full of food and glasses just waiting to be filled. My anxiousness of falling off dissipated as I felt myself slowly falling in a different way. I looked over to Edric with a smile, his golden eyes locking with mine.
"I did promise a great date night and so I delivered," he stated with pride. He slowly sat me down, him sliding to sit by my side. "I packed all your favorites." He rummaged through the basket, pulling out an assortment of snacks and desserts that I would never be able to eat all by myself (though I'm going to try).
"Jeez Ed, you're going all out aren't you?" I chuckled cheerily. He gave a confident nod, my face heating at the sight of candlesticks in his hands. He flashed me a smile and a wink as he began placing the candles in front of us and lighting them carefully. The flames sparked immediately, the gentle golden hues flickering pleasantly in the dark of the night. My eyes slid to Edric, an eyebrow raised in curiosity.
"What are you trying to get here?" I mused with a smirk. His eyes slid to the blanket, an almost bashful expression adorning his beautiful features. His fingers fidgeted slightly with an unlit candle in his grasp.
"Your heart," he mumbled shyly. Warmth exploded through my body as my breath caught in my throat. Heart fluttering and mind soaring, I quickly leaned in, placing a kiss on the nervous Blight's cheek. His face flushed a pink hue that complimented his hair quite nicely.
"That was insanely cheesy," I poked his chest. Mock offense passed across his face as he leaned back in shock. I rolled my eyes at his dramatics, pulling him back to me by the collar of his shirt. A flustered smile pulled at his lips as we stared each other down, only the tiniest distance away from each other. "But you already have my heart."
His eyes brightened, flicking momentarily to my lips before darting back to my stare. When he closed the remaining distance between us, I practically swooned. The kiss was quick and careful as if he didn't want to scare me off. He pulled away with his face now completely crimson, my own face burning.
"Titan, that was amazing," he breathed out. I nodded breathlessly, my heartbeat rattling in my rib cage. We began to snack a bit, exchanging comments and bits of gossip we've heard lately. I didn't want to stuff myself yet but the food was definitely amazing. I couldn't help was gaze at Edric every chance I could, soaking in his wonderful personality and caring demeanor.
Edric stared at me lovingly before standing unexpectedly. I tilted my head in curiosity as he offered a hand to me. I grasped his hand in mine as he pulled me carefully to my feet, the snacks now forgotten. The candlelight was just bright enough to light up our faces in the night.
"I've always wanted to do this," he whispered, his arm winding around my waist and his hand capturing one of mine. My other arm laced around his neck as I got the hint. Titan, you're cheesy.
"This is ridiculous," I chuckled again, Edric pulling me closer to where our chests were pushed flush together. We rocked gently, slow dancing on the roof at night. It was something straight out of a movie, romantic and cliche but kinda fun.
I smiled, resting my face against his shoulder as the rhythm guided us against each other. We swayed to the sound of silence happily, occasionally trading a small kiss here and there. It wasn't till the candles were nearly spent and my eyes were beginning to droop that we slowed to a full stop. I gazed at Edric, deeply admiring his golden eyes that were filled with a passionate longing.
"Do you wanna stay over tonight, nothing crazy of course," he asked before clarifying. I gave a small hum before pressing another kiss to his lips. He smiled, sighing as I pulled away.
"Only if we can cuddle all night," I bargained with a smirk. He gave a teasing eye roll before pecking my forehead. His hands cupped one side of my face before he pressed another kiss to my cheek.
"Only if I get to be small spoon every once in a while," he countered. I gave a nod of agreement as we both got to cleaning up our date, putting away the candle and rest of the food. Definitely one of our best dates and it wasn't even over yet. After all, I will be demanding cuddles later.
