six hours

43: November the Eleventh

It has been a month since we got back from the Romano's family mansion and somehow big Daddy Romano has been checking up on us, I found out that he did the same for Ash and Cris too, and he made sure Edward and Cris didn't find out, I think it was a way of trying to be in his son's lives after many years.

As for my marriage, it has been doing alot better, I do force Edward to take me out sometimes,romance comes naturally and it just happens.

As I woke up that morning, and seeing Edward already dressed for work made me sad, I was about to ask him to stay when the landline phone rang, Edward picked up the phone and his expression changed, I stood up from the bed and stood beside him, " thank you" he said as he placed the phone down, " what is it?" I asked with a worried face.

" Nothing to worry yourself" he answered, I shrugged and before I could think of what to tell Edward, I received a message from Ash.

Ash: Maman is in hospital, pls come asap😭.

My heart stopped and I dropped my phone, Edward looked at me with a knowing look but said nothing, tear filled out my eyes and fear fall upon me, I had a lump in my throat and my breath become short, " let's go" I said to Edward calmly, " not possible" he replied, his answer angered me that I ran out of the bedroom, and straight in the living room, "Alfred!!" I shouted, " yes mistress" he answered as he appeared in front of me.

" Tell the pilot to get the jet or helicopter ready." I said calmly but inside me fire was burning, " but-" " the only butt I want to see is yours doing your work!!!!" I said before poor Alfred could answer, he nodded and left, " where do you think you are going dressed like that?" Edward asked from behind me, " the hospital" I answered, " you don't even know which hospital it is" he said.

" I suppose you do?" I said, Edward said nothing but just looked at me, something I see love in his eyes for me but it doesn't matter, Alfred come in and told us that the jet was ready, without sparing a minute, I rushed out of the house and Edward followed, while in the jet, my mind wanted to know everything but I couldn't connect to any internet communications due to the speed at which we were travelling.

Fifteen minutes later, we arrived at the hospital, the pilot landed the jet on the roof of the hospital, next to the emergency helicopters, after the jet was steady on the ground, I ran out of the jet and off to the third floor, the operation floor that where ma tante was, upon arriving, Ash ran to me, " she was involved in a car accident, it was a hit and run" she said while sobbing, we hugged each and sat on the bench, praying for a miracle.

Three hours later, the doctor come out of the operation theatre, he looked tired but hopeful, we all looked at him and waited for him to speak, "Marie is out of danger, it was difficult but we did it, we will like to keep her here for observation" the doctor said, that was the news we were all waiting, I have been sitting in my revealing night gown for three full hours and the outcome was worth it.

All of us were happy, " can we see her now?" Cris asked," not yet, we shall inform you" the doctor replied and left, Ash and I hugged again, this time, joy was the theme of the hug, " I will go and get tea and coffee" I said, Edward shoot me a glare, clearly telling me not to speak to strangers and not get any man's attention, typical jealousy, but I loved it.

I walked away and as I turn to the Corner, I bumped into someone,as he or she was dressed like a doctor ready for operation, " sorry" I said and smiled, then I left, I quickly ordered tea and coffee and some people looked at weirdly, same woman covered their children's eyes while others covered their husband's eyes while others especially the men looked at me with lust, one even asked for my number but I told him I was Mrs Romano and the person walked away, I guess my name is powerful.

I walked with the tea and coffee to where my hubby, Cris and Ash where, I gave each person what they asked for and slowly siped on the tea, then all of a sudden, we saw the doctor and a couple of nurses running toward tante Marie's hospital room and confusion grow on us, I looked at Edward and held Ash's hand, I was scared.

I have never felt this scared since Maman died, I was always strong but sometimes even the strongest gem can break and that was me, minutes passed and more and more nurses were running toward tante Marie's hospital room, I was lost and I could not think of anything else then being in Edward's arms now and I guess he knew what I was thinking because he come and wrapped his arms around me.

I always felt safe near him, but this time, I was scared and seeing all the nurses running around made me even more anxious about Tante Marie, " Romano, I'm scared" I said as I looked at Edward, " no need to be little Nora, Tante Marie is going to fine" Cris replied as he moved closer to where Edward, Ash and I were, Cris as always supported me as an elder brother, and all he said made Ash node and smiled.

" Babe, you and Nora can go home, Edward and I will stay here" Cris said to Ash, " no!, My Maman is in there, fighting between life and death, I won't and so is Nora" she replied, " sister-in-law, you need to rest, 

A couple of minutes later, the doctor come out looking lost, scared and out of breath, we all stared at him, " what is it?" Cris said, " is Maman okay?" Ash asked, "SPEAK!!!" Edward said and I was quite, trying to keep my emotions in check, there was a long pause, everything around me went slowly, as if time was about to stop, I could sense that something was wrong but I did not want to believe it.

" It,it Ms Marie-" the doctor said but quickly stopped, he was sweating bullets as if his life was about to end.

"She is- she's dead"...
