"Well, you are definitely pregnant. A few weeks is my guess." The doctor said with a smile.
"How could this happen?" You said, speaking aloud to yourself.
"Well it generally happens when you have sex." The doctor stated.
"I know how it happens!" You snapped, hopping off the exam table.
You walked out of the doctors chambers and made your way to your own.
**********When you finally reached your bed, you collapsed on it, burying yourself under your blankets.
"One nightmare ended, another one beginning." You mumbled to yourself.
"You're really pregnant?" Thranduil says, startling you.
"It seems that way." you mumble from under the blankets.
"And how do you feel about that?" He asked, you could feel the bed shift slightly under his weight as he sat on the bed beside you.
"Terrified. What if there is a war? And even if there isn't one, the people here haven't welcomed me as your wife. I highly doubt they will pleased to hear of a new infant." You whined.
"If there is a war, it will be handled. And this is my kingdom. They will accept you and our child." Thranduil said, uncovering your head.
You jerked the cover back over your head and ignored his pleas to come out.
"If you don't come out, I'm coming in." He threatened.
"Then so be it." You retorted.
Within an instant he was under the blankets with you, his strong arms wrapped protectively around you, his hands falling gently on your stomach.
"Things will be okay." He whispered.
"I'm not ready for this. Not after....." you trailed off, thinking of your son. The one you failed to protect.
"I'm a horrible mother." You finally said."You are no such thing." He kissed the back of your head, his grip on you tightening.
"I love you." you whispered.
"I love you too." Thranduil responded, you could hear the love in his voice.
And for the rest of the day, you remained in your fort under the blanket, hiding from the problems to come.
