"So we are just supposed to fend for ourselves? This effects ALL of us!" the voice belonged to Thorin.

"But I can't just send my men off half cocked! I won't risk my people that way!" Thranduil exclaimed.

"What about the unsuspecting village folk?" Thorin yelled.

"THIS is my kingdom. defending my kingdom is my number one priority! When I know more about what is going on, I WILL act, but until than my army stays here!" Thranduil responded.

You decided you didn't feel right eaves dropping so you slipped away quietly back to Thranduil's room and waited for him.

"Where have you been?" you asked, when he finally walked in.

"I was talking to... one of my generals about keeping more men on the gate." Thranduil said, looking away from you.

"Oh." You said. You knew he was lying but you didn't understand why.

"I'm sorry to keep you waiting." He says, still avoiding your gaze.

"It's fine. I'm going to go back to my own chambers tonight, though." You say, trying to hide your irritation.

"Why?" Thranduil asks, fidgeting with his clothes.

"I have to get up before dawn and I don't want to wake you." You lied.

"Oh okay. Goodnight then." Thranduil says kissing your cheek.

Without another word, you walk silently back to your chambers.

"Oh hey!" you see Fili exit the festivity hall and wave at you.

"You're still up?" you ask, thinking that he would have been to bed hours ago.

"Are you kidding me! This place is great!" Fili beamed.

"Fili, where ar- oh, hello." Kili stammered following his brother.

"Kili, you must stop being so awkward." You laugh, and Fili laughs with you.

"I don't know how to be! Elves are so beautiful and tall, and I'm covered in dirt." Kili exclaimed.

"Oh my!" Fili laughed harder.

"Kili, you are just as foreign to us, as we are to you! You need not feel awkward!" You place your hand on his shoulder to comfort him.

"Fili, Kili, get your things. We are leaving." Thorin boomed from behind you making the three of you jump.

"Uncle, we have only just gotten here." Fili protested.

"And now we are leaving." Thorin said, boldly.

"Thorin, its late. At least stay the night and leave in the morning." You tried to reason with him.

"I am not going to spend another moment in this wretched place!" Thorin hissed.

"What happened?" You ask, your voice low.

"I dumbly decided to trust elves." Thorin spit.

"GO GET YOUR THINGS NOW." He commanded his nephews, and without another glance they did as he said.

"At least let me pack you some food for your journey." You offered, seeing there would be no reasoning with him.

"I do not need any help from elves." Thorin said, walking off.

"What about from a friend?" You called after him.

"I have no friends here." Thorin said, without stopping.

**************************

"What did you do!" You burst into Thranduil's room.

"What?" He asked sleepily.

"Thorin is leaving in the middle of the night and wouldn't so much as take food for his journey!" You fumed.

"I did not do anything, and I would recommend that you lower your voice." Thranduil warned, getting out of bed.

"I would recommend that you start telling me the truth!" You warned back.

"What makes you think I am not?" He asks, his expression cold.

"Because I heard you talking to him in the throne room when I went looking for you! And then you lied to me!" You screamed.

"You eaves dropped?" Thranduil asked, his expression growing colder(if that is possible).

"I HEARD YOU BOTH SCREAMING FROM DOWN THE HALL." You were growing more furious by the minute.

"Well, whatever you heard does not concern you." said Thranduil.

His words hit you hard. You had been telling each other everything and now he is giving you demands and treating you as if you were nothing. Have we not been sharing a bed. You thought.

"Fine." You said, your voice cracking, and without another word you walked out.

How could he treat me like that? He shows his servants more respect, and up until now it was perfectly okay for me to be involved in the kingdoms business. After all, I am the princess. It IS my kingdom too.
