Shawn
"Promise," she whispers back to me and I finally loosen my hold on her and watch as she skips out of my room after I tell her the washroom is across the hall.
I slide my hands under my head as I lean into a pillow. What a fuckin' night. If you had told me three hours ago that this is how my night would go I would have laughed in your face. I never thought I'd be here, in my bed, with Lyla. When I saw her a the party tonight in her light pink dress the world stopped for a moment. She was laser focused as she carried a tray of food and didn't seem to notice the guy in front of her turning around when they collided. I'd never been so thankful for good reflexes as I stepped forward and caught her in my arms. I didn't want to let her go, figuring that would be the only moment I'd get to touch her tonight. Little did I know.
It's been two plus years since I've had sex and I know why I waited now. I was waiting for Lyla. It's always been more with her. Sure, the physical part is phenomenal don't get me wrong, the girl gets me going like no one else on the planet. But it's the emotional connection we've always shared that brings a whole new element to it. We are meant to be. Hence why I started to panic when she tried to pull out of my arms a moment ago. I thought she was already regretting what had happened and would run away from me again. But she's here to say. She said it and I'll be damned if I let her go again.
Lyla bounces back into the room, smiling at me as she slides back into bed and against my side. She fits against me so perfectly as my arm slides under her and down her back. My fingers trace over her soft skin, wanting to soak in every inch of her that I've been stuck with only memories of the past three years. I hear her let out a soft sigh from beside me and look down to see her lost in deep thought.
"What's up?" I ask.
"Just thinking," she answers shyly.
"I can see that," I tease her softly. "About what?"
"Us," she breathes out.
"I'm going to need you to elaborate a bit more beautiful," I tell her with a soft playfulness to my point.
She shifts on the bed to roll on her stomach as her chin rest on my chest and she looks up at me. I can tell whatever she is thinking about has her nervous as she bites down on her bottom lip.
"I just don't want you to think I'm crazy," she says and I wait for her to explain. "We literally just had this amazing night together and my brain is already questioning what is going to happen and what our plan is for the future now," she rambles out in embarrassment and I can't help but chuckle softly at how adorable she is.
"That's not crazy," I tell her. "I was just going to hold you captive in my bed if you tried to leave, that's crazy," I tell her with a small smile and she laughs as she rolls her eyes at me.
"I guess that's a good point," she agrees.
"Plus, I'm moving to Harrington in two weeks so that settles the 'what are we going to do' debate," I tell her.
"I thought you just had an interview," she says as she looks at me in surprise.
"The interview was this week and I got the job," I admit to her. "I just didn't want to freak you out and scare you off earlier," I add with a light chuckle hoping she doesn't get mad.
"Scare me off? I probably would have jumped your bones right there," she teases and we both laugh.
"Yeah so I just need to look for a place but I'll be in your town within two weeks time," I tell her with an eager smile.
